Each console has its own graphical "look", from the abstract pixels of Atari to the chunky textures and polygons of PS1, each defined by the technology and popular styles of the time; which is your absolute favourite, and why?

For me it has to be SNES and GBA. That sturdy, beefy pixel art is just timeless. I’m immediately attracted to any modern indie game that borrows the aesthetic.
The SNES was probably the peak of side-scrolling 2D graphics. I also like the 8-bit style of the NES.

SNES.
Some of those Pre-Rendered 2D games still hold up even today. - Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, 3, Killer Instinct and even games like Rise of the Robots despite having garbage gameplay still hold up super well visually.

SEGA Dreamcast for 3D. A lot of sentimental reasons and stuff like Shenmue not just visuals but abilities in that game and other games on DC blew me away. PLus the colorful crisp look of everything.
2D is any 16-bit console and Saturn. 16-Bit games still look good and 2D on Saturn is better than any console of its era. The Capcom fighting games esp or Princess Crown. Astal and others.

I think this very much a nostalgia question, but I used to be an Amiga guy and I loved the pixel art era of the time.
Hmm. That's tough. I wouldn't call my favourite systems having a style. I think a common style went away before 6th gen when things became too varied to see any system as having a style. For example, MGS2 versus Okami. Let's confine things to first party only and I would say PS4, the Uncharted style of ambience laid ontop of graphics and following the formula that the visuals get better the longer the game progresses , induces a state where your mind is tricked into being mind blown and I like that feeling, getting to the boat section in UC4 for example has an almost euphoric effect and then getting to that lost pirate city cements a feeling of generation leap only to have what feels like a tech demo for a future gen in the prolouge.
I'd say, 8th gen is also the most stable of gens with the game running the best, at least for Sony/MS and that feeling of stability helps.

Same. The color palette, esp sky gradients and smooth parallax all added to the graphical easthetic.

I really want to say Master System as my OG or at least stick with Sega and say Mega Drive/Genesis (or Mega/Sega CD - I actually find the crude FMV charming).
But I guess I have to visually agree to SNES.
I do love the look of EGA(/VGA) era PC games.
