Forums - PC Discussion - Destiny 2 free on PC

This game was never really on my radar but when I logged in to Battle.net yesterday they said it was free if I downloaded it before November 17th so I did download it and so far I'm having fun with it.

Thought I'd spread the word for those who want to try it risk free. All you need is the Battle.net client.

That's very nice of them. I'm surprised they didn't mention it during the Blizzcon opening.

I could have had it as part of my PS+ subscription, but it has distinction of being the first game on Plus where being a free ( close enough ) wasn't good enough. Passed on it. Hard. They need to pay me.

Considering their DLC model, along with their considerable microtransactions, you'd think they'd just make the base game free in general at this point in the game's lifecycle. Surely that would only lead to more profit.

When they make a campaign focused Destiny I will be more interested.

Well, that's what the game is right now.  So, you should be more interested.

Not a bad idea, they give you the base game for free because it is not selling good anymore so they hopy that the new players buy their DLC's.

yeah i noticed the gift box flashing when i went to login to WoW and it was a nice surprise. i claimed it, but dont intend to install it anytime soon,, already have destiny forsaken on xb1x. plus my computer isnt as powerful. so no desire anytime soon, but will try when i upgrade some year, idk.

the beta ran well but it didnt look as good as on the 1x. so thanks blizz?

still doesnt make up for the let down of diablo mobile. yeah its a salty deal.

I assume what they mean is instead of a short, debatable quality campaign, with PVE tied in and PVP separate of that, they should just have a long, strong, high quality campaign, with PVP separate and drop PVE. Which would be a lot more like what Halo was, which is what Bungie is great at. I myself would also prefer using a Halo approach to the Destiny franchise, because the PVE I've found pretty stale from the very start, unless they can find a way to really spice it up.

Have you played the game since the last major DLC?

It certainly isn't a linear, Halo-like campaign.  But, the PvE is, IMO, the best it has been since launch of the original game.
