Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan Sales Week 40 Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - October 1-7, 2018

Will likely be a powerful quarter for Switch with PLG next month and Smash after that, SMP should keep the baseline above 40k until then.

Switch is rising little by little again, so it's good. Good opening for Mario party. Megaman sold meh, little bit more on Switch. PS4 drop is horrible, as is almost everything else. Would have hoped Spiderman would still help a little, but it is surprising the game didn't help with hardware at all.

PLG seems to be something that will sell better than the spinoffs but nowhere near as much as the traditional mainline games (even the remakes). Smash will of course be a smashing success, but I'm not sure it will be able to drive hardware sales enough. Will be interesting to watch for sure. Nintendo absolutely needs a strong quarter in Japan to have any hope at all to meet their 20 million goal, unless they just overship like crazy, lol.

Don't know if i like those Mega Man-numbers hope it sold better digitally.

Really low PS4 numbers, what happened? It's lower than before the boost they got last week though the relase of multiple titles, so it is not just going back to normal, but falls below that.

While Warriors Orochi sold better on PS4, MegaMan is selling better on Switch.

Mario Party did well.

Curious to see digital sales of Mega Man 11. Super Mario Party did ok, series just doesn't quite have the appeal that it did.

PS4 should be back over 20k after price drop on Pro model.

Though there is a difference between Orochi selling ~95k better on PS4 and Rockman selling ~2.5k better on Switch.

VGchartz/Resetera, etc: "LABO will increase substantially when the holidays come around." With 10 weeks left until Christmas and with three different sets, none are in the top 20. What's going to be the excuse this time around? Stay tuned!

Super Mario Party in the middle of the pack compared to previous titles, marginal boost to hardware. Megaman 11 kinda meh. By this point in the Switch's lifecycle, I would expect a significant disparity between it and the PS4 when it comes to third party titles releasing on the same day (especially those that favor the Switch audience) but 3rd party Switch titles are receiving the Vita sales treatment...which isn't good (from the publishers perspective).

PS4 down due to people waiting on the price cut, good timing with COD and many high end western games releasing but I don't expect to see massive changes.

The best story continues to be Spiderman, fantastic sales for this game. Pretty awesome to see.

Anybody who has payed attention to Japanese sales for the last few years knows that it takes awhile for 3rd party sales to transition from 1 platform to the next.

The exact same thing happened with Vita & PS4, for the first year or two PSP & PS3 versions were selling just as much or better.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Decent AC debut. Super hyped for next week's chart. Bo4 releases and the ps4 Pro gets its price drop. I'm surprised the amount of people who have over looked that fact in here. It didn't just drop for no reason.

The big news this week is xbox 100k.
