Building off rumors concerning Nintendo and Amazon’s relationship comes additional speculation about NX.

Here’s the latest:
– When Nintendo announced their mobile games, Amazon was very interested in having the games also be on the Amazon App store.
– Nintendo games will be on the Amazon store on day one, or shortly after Play Store and App Store.
– Amazon is asking Nintendo what they need to do to have Amazon App Store games play on Nintendo consoles
– Amazon got the impression that Nintendo is thinking about emulating Android games.
– Nintendo will not create an Android system, but instead will emulate Android games. It’s not something that’s confirmed, but just an interpretation of the conversations.

Sounds similar to the Blackberry OS and Jolla's Sailfish OS, which are able to emulate android apps.
NX's going mobile

I remember superchunk wanting this.

Really not liking the "mobile" direction Nintendo is going in. Its like they keep trying to give me reasons not to buy the NX.

I really don't get all these NX topics since E3. Did I miss some big announcement or credible rumor that tells us anything new since before E3?

Where is the info that it will launch next year coming from?

BB already did it. Nothing surprize if they do it.

The last two times Nikkei reported something about Nintendo, which Nintendo then denied, Nikkei was proven to be correct more or less in the long run.

Nikkei said Nintendo would be releasing a Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo denied this the next day, and then 5-6 weeks later unveiled the ... 3DS XL.

Nikkei said Nintendo would be making smartphone games. Nintendo denied this. About 8 months later, they announce that they're making smartphone games.

So I wouldn't be shocked if Nikkei's report of Nintendo using the Android OS in some fashion is true.

In the source the comments are focused on the games. I think the apps angle is much more interesting, making their NX platform useful to the general public without putting too many resources in making them.

It's a mobile content war out there, ask Blackberry or Windows phone.

Blackberry actually can now run Android apps through the Amazon store.

I'm guessing that is some type of emulation or something like that?

Wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo does something similar.

Hope this turns out to be true. Consoles and handhelds have to be just as useful as any other device if we want them to stay around. The major advantage is the gaming focused hardware, OS, and networks which make them the best place for gamers.

With Microsoft bringing apps to Xbox One, and Nintendo possibly doing the same with NX, this will force Sony to to the same with PS4 and PS Vita (and/or Vita's successor). I want Nintendo and Sony to fight back against ios and android, if they roll over and play dead, then gaming is dead.
