Forums - Sales Discussion - September NPD 2019 thread

I guess we can gage the numbers for Switch approx. but we won't get anything official once.

Also, a pretty great start for Zelda Link's Awakening against the big american juggernaut like NBA and Borderlands 3 !

Yayyy no numbers again

We're probably never getting numbers again. NPD has deemed them top secret and off-limits to the public, and they've successfully silenced all the leakers. Unless a bunch of people pitch in for the $10,000 to buy a report or an actual competitor crops up (maybe we'll get lucky and Famitsu opens up a U.S. branch), then it's over. The best we have are the "best guess" hardware estimates from the Era threads. Truly a sad time for people who enjoy discussing game sales.

Imagine a kickstarter to get the numbers when the new gen starts

It's nice to see Catherine place in the top 20.

Also, DQ11 switch failed to place in the top 20 at all and barely made the top 10 list of Switch games. It debuted at number 11 last year on PS4. Seems like a likely bomb so far in the West.

Sad, because DQXI is a great game. I hoped more Switch players would buy it.

Vouchers, very very late in Sept, very very late port. A likely bomb might be a loose term here.

Why is this? Like what is their benefit? This is like polling companies refusing to release data on which politician gets what percentage. Nonsense!

Companies pay to have access to NPD figures. If they get released or leaked why would people pay for the figures. That is my thinking anyway.

It's because certain companies try to use sales data as "marketing". It's NOT, and I mean NOT a coincidence that a little before the Switch outsold the PS4 lifetime in Japan, Media Create was silenced. I guess that Famitsu has enough power to tell a certain company to fuck off. As for trying to silence sales trackers, its all futile. The PS4 and the PS5 will be obliterated by the Switch either way.
