It is possible when:

-Vita is gone

-3DS doing Vita numbers or gone

- PS4 is declining because PS5 is coming or no big games

- Switch releases either AC/MH or Pokemon

Vita is basically gone and 3ds is very close to Vita numbers. Only PS4 is left. I think it's best chance is next year when AC releases or when Pokémon next gen releaees. Capcom is very stupid so I don't know even if switch will ever get it's own monhun

The original rumors that said PS4 will get an MH game, also said that Switch will get a new MH game.

With 200k in Japan alone, global Switch sales for this week could well be over 600k.

I'd expect it to do better than that actually. Usually shipments are 25% for Japan and considering it looks like Pokemon did a lot better overseas compared to Japan.. I'd say it's likely more hardware was also sold outside of Japan.

800k or more is not out of the question here. Probably a really really good week for the Switch.

I would assume the same thing as well, but then Benji said that the boost to switch hardware is good, but not insane. With the WoM, I think the hardware boost will be more spread out instead of over one weekend

And if I remember right, the original rumours said the PS4 game should had simplified gameplay (which was the case), while the Switch game should be classical. I hope that's true.

I believe the original leak, but I don't think Capcom would continue with plan after seeing MHW success.

While that is possible, it would be obscenely foolish.  They have an opportunity to establish two parallel multimillion selling series under one iP.  It would be ridiculous to leave that money on the table.  But hey, this is Capcom.  Maybe they are just that dim.

While MHW did what it sought out to do, completely ditching the switch would be an INCREADIBLE misstep, basically ignoring what made MHreal ly popular in Japan in the first place: local co-op. You can always see people playing monhun co-op on psp and later 3ds in cafes and the like in Japan. And since Sony has given up on not only the handheld market but the greater Japanese market as a whole, NOT coming up with at least a cross platform traditional monhun would literally be killing off the established home market Cash cow.

I didn't mean ditching the Switch, I meant not having a Switch exclusive MH, and instead make it all multiplat

Oh, that would be bad. I like traditional MonHun.

If you on the other hand mean Switch exclusivity - yeah, that can go away. I think exclusivity is stupid anyways. If the game is not dependent on concrete hardware features make your game multiplat.

He later mentioned that the Switch had a crazy week prior to Pokemon launch so he flipped a bit on his first statement. But yes, I agree that the general WoM is very postivie and it should probably affect hardware boost quite a bit over time and not just the launch week.
