I believe the original leak, but I don't think Capcom would continue with plan after seeing MHW success. 

While that is possible, it would be obscenely foolish.  They have an opportunity to establish two parallel multimillion selling series under one iP.  It would be ridiculous to leave that money on the table.  But hey, this is Capcom.  Maybe they are just that dim.
