Well, shit, this month is gonna be expensive for me!

I love when Sony fans touts how many players Fortnite has like 80 million I hear recently.

Then those same people will say that the 10 million number for Forza 3 is misleading and not that many people play.

Its a different view when it compares free to play games to AAA full priced games.

But Forza falls under both, since you can buy it else you can just use Xbox Game Pass to play. Fortnite's 80 million were monthly players though, while Horizon 3's 10 million are lifetime players.

Still more than GT Sport, which has 5 million players. There's no doubt Horizon games sell more than GT now, but GT is much bigger than Motorsport.

Whenever MS mentions those "player numbers" you need to realise those include PC and everyone who has just logged in once with any account. Those 10 million players doesn't necessarily mean FH3 has sold more than 5 million copies.

So how many people do you think bought a game only to log in once? If you had to guess?

There are at least 4-5 games to buy

Assassins Creed, RDR2, FH4...

Easily $300-400

Yeah, I'm getting Forza, RDR 2, AC: Odyssey, FIFA 19, Spiderman and I already bought Pathfinder: Kingmaker two days ago. But it's also cool, 2018 has been quite boring so far on the gaming front!

You don't understand. You don't need to buy the game to log in...it's enough if one account on the system bought it.

Yes, I account for PC sales. Why only account for sales on a single platform when its on multiple platforms? You don't compare Far Cry's sales on PS4 to Killzone, you compare its sales on all platforms.

The game is really good like it better then the third one. I'm level 105 and finished over 1/4 of all the events. The first danger sign leaderboard already has over 400K entries not sure how that compares to the third one during the same time frame since I bought that one physical and didn't have early access to it.

Is this really a debate worth having? We all know players isn't equal to sales.

The person you were originally responding to was making the point people tout or downplay player numbers when it convenient for an argument.

Frankly, its not uncommon these days. It makes an IP appear more relevant when they go by player numbers.

I'm surprised I didn't see this game plastered all over the X1 UI or Gamepass.

I'm surprised the reviews have done so well. You would think the critics might have some fatigue with the series. But they manage to keep it fresh and do so in a relatively short development period. This is a very impressive studio.
