Game of the year! Not surprised in the least in these scores, MS' best developer. Good looks Playground.

Spiderman to FH4!

It make you more eager to learn about playground games new ip? Hopefully we hear something next e3.

Nice but racing games dont get me excited anymore. Those were good to play in prior generations.

Congratulations to Playground for another critically acclaimed Forza Horizon game!

Proud to be a Californian.

It's Fable Probably won't release until 2021-2022, they've yet to hire a lot of senior staff, only a few days ago they started their mass hiring (Over 100 job positions posted).

Amazing scores, Playground is an amazing studio and I can't wait to see what they do with Fable.

Fable: Chicken Racing.

Congrats to Playground.

Developers of other Car Racing games (that apparently we cannot name here) need to step up their game.  The Horizon series at this moment is the only one that has been consistent with its quality (at least judging by the reception of both critics and fans).  And its fanbase seems to be growing with every entry.

Do we know that? VGC isn't that accurate for games these days, but it lists recent Forza and GT installments as selling similarly (to wildly different userbase sizes as well).

Wikipedia lists GT6 (2013) as selling less than half what GT5 (2010) did, and GT Sport as selling 3.3m (though at a year old, this could yet sell more). VGC puts FM3 at around that, not including digital. And we were recently told that FM3 has nearly 10 million players - if even half those bought a copy of the game it'd be ahead of the most recent GT release, and in line with the most recent headline GT release. And all that, again, on a much smaller userbase.

I agree that this probably wasn't the thread for the comparison, but I do think its interesting that the once undisputed leadership or racing is now very much up for grabs!

Until something changes, I'd peg GT as the bigger franchise either way. But really, the comparison was needless, so there really isn't any need to even elaborate any further on it (and Wiki is the worst source for sales data, btw :P).

No its not both Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsports are nowhere as popular as they used to be and GT Sports sales are in a rapid decline last time it was in the top 75 was August 4th.  Meanwhile Forza Horizon popularity is skyrocketing FH3 passed 10 million players not that long ago and since FH4 is also on Game Pass and a better game overall it will get to 10 million players as lot faster.  The only other racing game that is currently more popular then the Horizon series is Mario Kart.

Dang tbat is some impressive scores. Glad that the scores are matching the hype

Yet, Gran Turismo retains much of its popularity and still caters to a much larger audience. Really, Forza is good enough on its own that these things don't need to be pointed out.

I think Forza Horizon is a great series that could leave the traditional simulation racers (e.g. Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport) in the dust due to being more fun (imo) and accessible. But I think you've mixed up a couple of things (see bold).

(1): Please consider using the abbreviation "FH3" for Forza Horizon 3. The game isn't called Forza Motorsport Horizon 3 and it really only makes sense to use "FM3" for Forza Motorsport 3. FH3 has nearly 10 mill total players which include players buying the game, borrowing the game, trying the demo, etc. Additionally, some analysts speculate whether Microsoft counts the game twice if you try the same copy on both XB1 and PC. Gran Turismo Sport has no demo but still has 5 mill total players in under a year (FH3 is 2 years old). So I think it's difficult to compare these corporate "total player numbers" 1 to 1.

(2): Forza Horizon 3 doesn't have a "much smaller userbase". It has a much larger userbase. XB1 has a userbase of 38.7 mill and Windows 10 has a userbase of 700 mill.

The game is great but let's not deliberately make the comparison to other games skewed.

Got 2 months of gamepass for £2, I'm ready!
