Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony Boss: Fortnite On PlayStation 4 Is The Best Experience For Users

I think PS4 PRO players shouldn't play with PS4 players and only with XBO X players. Standard PS4 is such an inferior console to PS4 PRO.

lol, this isn't Metal Gear Survive or something, it's Fortnite. No platform it's been released on needs any help with its player base. It's like... literally the most popular game around. This excuse is as much nonsense now as it was when people drug it out for other games that need zero help in player base, like Minecraft, or Rocket League.

As if we needed any proof this is just steamy PR bullshit, you have the fact that they lock your account hostage if you ever log onto a PS system even just for a skin. This is about money, nothing more. #4theplayers lol.

Of course, Fortnite doesn't need any help in the playerbase area. But what happens when another game that is less popular than Fortnite comes around. Infinite Warfare (or was it Advanced Warfare) for the Windows Store version had so little players, that it had to issue refunds days after the game was bought. It could happen, especially since PSN is 2-3 times bigger than the other competition. Nintendo and Xbox want Crossplay because it benefits them, there is literally nothing for them to lose if they get Crossplay. Sony on the other hand, because of its current dominance in the market, has a lot more to lose. There is a group of 10 friends that want to play Fortnite, 4 of them want to get a PS4. If they all want to play together, the other 6 would have to buy a PS4. Now if Crossplay was implemented, the other 6 could buy a Switch or Xbone. That is six players that could potentially go to the Playstation ecosystem, but because Crossplay was available, go somewhere else.

Don't get me wrong, the whole locking down your account is stupid and I condemn that. It was a scummy move all around, but I'm also a realistically looking at Sony as a business. People seem to forget that these are businesses and they will do everything they can to get money. I don't have any imaginary expectations that Sony will treat their costumers like they are family. No business does that. Period. If all this outrage actually slowed down the sales of the PS4, then Crossplay might be implemented. But it seems like people just want to jump on the bandwagon and post their opinions online while also play and buy PS4 games.

Or the other 4 have to buy a PC/XBO/Switch/Smartphone.

Seriously, if I was among those 6 and playing on Switch or Xbox, I'd tell them to play either on their Smartphone, a PC or buy some other console than a PS4.

I guess if your talking different platforms and not different experiences, which is mostly what those other platforms offer, isn't it?

Being able to access an account IS part of the experience and the PlayStation experience is hampered compared to the X1/Switch experience.

PS players can't access their accounts? Since when?

It is going to be curious how Sony will handle Rocket League's cross-platform IDs. It will probably be just like Fortnite.

If you want to be picky, the Switch can also be three different experiences and with no additional expense.

Also should keep in mind that the 4 systems which do not include the PS4 lists "smart phones" I mean, android and ios are two completely different OS's and devices, to say they are the same is like saying that ps4/X1 are the same.

On topic though... this is terrible PR statement, one of those times when he would have done better to just not say anything or just punch the reporter who asked the question then run away making zoidberg noises, anything would be better than saying this shite from a PR point of view imo. X1X offers a more powerful system, PC is more powerful, Switch offers more versatility and free (cheaper in the future) online access. In what way exactly is the ps4 the best way to play the game? I mean, even if you're talking about the ps4p you still have the x1x and pcs which mash it in terms of power.

Switch would be 3 different experiences in one using the same hardware. Unless your talking about Labo, and I'm not exactly sure that counts as hardware.

Good point about the phones. That could extend to Windows and Steam for PC though too couldn't it?

Both the PS and MS statements this week are ridiculous. I get the feeling that PS saw MS use a lousy justification and get away with it in terms of minimum negative feedback, so PS figured they would use the same thing for their cross play 'issue'. MS is just covering up the fact that their sales are weak and we all know why, and PS is covering up the fact they won't allow cross play, and we all know why. Neither company was being honest with those statements, and we all know why.

More like "For the Player's money", heh

No, it's just a typo, that l is too much. It's meant to mean "#for the payers"

I'm out!

Well done! Go away, bloody peasants!

...Oh, wait, as console gamers, aren't PS4 ones supposed to be bloody peasants too?

Speaking at the IFA technology show in Berlin, Sony chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida said he felt playing on the PlayStation 4 was the best experience for gamers and therefore should not be compromised.

"On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that's our belief," he said.

"But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform."

clickbait headline nowhere did he say the other platforms are inferior. he said better experience not that the other ones are inferior

This is a terrible excuse. Sony would have been better off staying silent than saying this.

Oh dear, every fucking time - their arrogance just has to resurface sooner or later...

The sheer amount of variables (what is vs what isn't) that are wrong with what was being said brings a new level of hilarity.

Arrogant Sony seems to be back in full force and I honestly cannot wait to see Karma paying a visit and reality to properly ground the mindless clapping group that seemingly want no competition and no pro consumer practices/business.

Didn't read through the whole thread, so someone probably brought up the following point already: Just implement an option, those who want to have the superior PS4 server play only with PS4 players and those who want to play with those from other platforms too use the other option, it's as simple as that.
