The performance of Splatoon is unbelievable. If they make a 3rd one in 2 years, it will sell NUTS.

Let's not go into franchise fatigue yet, Yokai Watch suffered from it, so I would suggest to not get a new game before Switch 2

That would make 3 years, which is pretty standard time in game development. Splatoon 2 released only 2 years after the first one, that is not what I call franchise fatigue lol.

Yokai Watch released in 2013, YW2 in 2014, YW3 in 2016 and the 4th one in 2018. That is what I call milking. My suggestion does not imply this kind of overproduction.

I don't think Splatoon 3 will happen in this generation since they didn't want to divide their audience, it's better for them to accumulate the highest milestone before releasing the next entry.

I do not know. They released Galaxy 2 three years after the first one. There are 2 iterations of Pokemon each generation. Anything could happen, really.

Splatoon is type of game one game per platform, similar like Smash Bros and Mario Kart, we most likly will not have Splatoon 3 on current Switch, maybe on Switch 2.

The likely won't be a S3 on Switch as the franchise is more like Smash where it's a one per platform type of title.

Yeah, i think multiplayer type of games are certainly not going to be released multiple entries in one generation with the exception of Pokemon because that game has forward compactibility.

Mario Kart 7 is still making appearances in the top 20 even after 6 and a half years since its release.
God Damn, those are some looooong legs.

All hardware improved, but massively so for 3DS. Was this the week with the 2DSXL-models with new styles (one being minecraft if memory serves right)?

Something happened on the Xbox-side of things too. Price-cut? Bundle?

So, Taiko drum master now conquering the Switch too.

Octopath Traveler can barely fight off Splatoon in week two, but following the news it probably could've looked a bit better if properly supplied. Overall Octopath sales are good, a bit better than expected. Seemingly this is true for Square too, they obviously expected lower sales.

Captain Toad stays high in the charts on week two too. I think Nintendo is happy with the sales.

It was the MK7 2ds xl bundle and the Animal Crossing 2ds xl bundle that released this hardware week (July 19th). The 2ds xl Minecraft Creeper edition doesn't release until August 2nd.

In Japanese, but it shows the release dates/prices.

Ah, these two are also very nice, although I think the Minecraft one is killing it. That looks superb.

It has well documented stock issues and you expected more than it got? I am surprised it got as much as it did.

Yes, because supply issues means that the incoming shipments would be in higher than normal demand. The fact that the drop it showed was fairly normal for an JRPG (~80%) means that it's showing normal sales patterns despite pent up demand. Maybe it'll have better legs in the coming weeks (or they've moved to digital instead, which is why I wanted to see digital sales).

SE publically stated that it was sold out and that the game would only get smaller restocks (which sold out within hours) in July. Another smallish incoming this week before a supposed bigger one early August. It couldnt have sold more at retail than it did because there were no copies to buy. Pattern or not, everything points to the game having a better second week if the stock was there.

Phew, I wish I didn't have to repeat myself for the third time here, but "MAN, SINCE THE GAME STILL HAD A LARGE DROP OFF, I WANT TO SEE THE DIGITAL SALES BECAUSE THAT RATIO WILL BE VERY INTERESTING". Saying this isn't a statement on how good or bad it's selling. I want to know if those buyers who can't find a copy are waiting till it comes back in stock or are buying it digitally.

Dat Nintendomination. Good hold for Octopath considering the stock issues and Toad is doing really well.
Funny that the best selling game on a PS console is Detroit. The KH collection is now out of the top 20 but at least it had a second wind thanks to the E3 KH3 trailers.

So why did Mario Kart 7 re-appear? New 2DS model with the game bundled in?
