If that's the case, then you should watch a better comedy film than .... Guardians of the Galaxy ...

To kill that cancer betterer!

Guardians 2 was betterest already, was hoping that 3 could have been the icing on the laughter medicine cake!

Talking about this has reminded me of Quills past in the intro to Guardians 1... now I'm sad.

It does suck. It would have been nice to at least have a trilogy of films by one director. But I think I can understand this firing more than most of the prior "I dug random shit up on twitter" firings ....

Good. Good riddance to that scum. Not only is he nasty,he's a tool.

This is just awful, pedophilia is not something to joke about. I am usually not someone that would support firings like this, but these tweets was so far beyond the line of acceptability in my opinion.

I'm more and more convinced people should get a licence before being allowed to use social media.

Another one fired by the modern Inquisition for thought crime.

I mean why did he think they were funny in the 1st place?

Watch the next Guardians of the Galaxy be utter crap.... thank you Disney! *_*

I can’t lie, I laughed at the ones they mentioned, but I’m completely desensitized though, and I can see why they would fire him. The tweets sounded just weird to me, not really offensive. Like he was on drugs and just trying to shock people with edgy humor.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

Alt-right conspiracy theorists digging up old tweets and creating a faux media outrage to get someone fired?! So unlike them.

The tweets were in poor taste, but not only had Gunn already apologized and deleted the tweets, Disney hired him AFTER the apology.
Really, the story is that the alt-right/gaters has learned that PR can get panicky easily, and has worked to exploit that by targeting the most outspoken and the most vulnerable of their critics.
Mike Cernovich (who frequently posts far worse) and all the either garbage people don't care about Gunn's decade old tweets; they just want him to shut up.

Seems like they are using what has worked so well for the Left, now.

And he didn't delete them til recently. Must have not upset him too much.

I also dislike the idea of people making an outrage enough to get someone fired, since there have been situations in the past where it seems some companies cave in immediately towards any sign of potential outrage without deciding for themselves. I'm not saying people don't have the right to be outraged at the jokes he made, in this case it's understandable,  but if these tweets were there for years why did it just all of a sudden become a problem now? Like, did someone go through his past just to look for bad stuff he may have done/said, or was this just found out randomly.

Yeah, it just all of a sudden became a problem for Disney because someone (Mike Cernovich) began resurfacing James Gunn's old tweets. I know the tweets are very old but at the same time they really are bad (as you say) and tasteless. I actually fully understand why Disney won't risk to become associated with the tweets.

Yea, really bad. The guy was obsessed with rape and pedophilia. He even linked a vid of underage girls "touching themselves." There was no joke included, just the link. He talked about walking around with a chub in front of a young girl to seem impressive.

Don't get me wrong, I have a dark sense of humor and enjoy off-color jokes, but this definitely crosses the line. Now, if he crossed the line every now and then, okay, but this obsession just sends warning bells off in my head.

This is what he wanted.....ge advocated for people to get fired for things they say *shrug*

Exactly. Live by the Twitter sword, die by the Twitter sword.

He also decided to jump into the SW defending, for some unknown reason. Stating that people who complain about the new SW films need therapy. I think someone who read his tweets at the time would say the same about him.
