You guys don't get platform agnostic gaming. The platform you play on will not matter. The majority of games will run on every platform. Better on some than others. Keep that in mind when you read the OP and don't boil down this discussion to mobile games are shit because they wouldn't be if AAA games can be played there.

Heh, you say your piece but when people dont agree with you you say they dont understand you.

Im not saying this to be mean, but its people opinion. When gamers buy a console to play games, they expect the best because they are paying for the best. You pay 300, 400 dollars up front for a great service.Phones and such are not gaming platforms, so the games developed there are side dishes, for people that are primarily there not for such experiences. There will be always space for both markets.60 dollar games are more alive than ever, as is 20 dollars indie games.Honestly, this 8 gen/9 gen developers seems to be finding more success than they were 5, 10 years ago.Tjis platform agnostic gaming wont be happening for a long while, if it ever does.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I have no issue with big games getting mobile versions if people want to play those games there, but I can quite confidently say that I will never play any AAA games on mobile. I hate even browsing the internet on mobile, let alone playing huge games on the platform. If other people want to do it, that's fine, but it's definitely not for me.

Lol ... what?

The controversy for Dmc happened WAY before the wig scene. Years before. In fact, the wig scene was a response to the controversy.

That was entitlement and i don't care for it. I don't think most people did.

The problem was how they said the series was old and outdated when it wasn't and making fun of it in the game itself was unacceptable. That is where they failed in my eyes.

It is never a good idea to make fun of your fans or to insult them. This reminds me of "the order" as well where the developers brought that 24fps cinematic BS. If you spit on your fans, they will spit back on you. It's an important lesson for developers.

I'm pretty sure the wig scene wasn't meant as an insult to the older games, it was meant as an Easter egg to fans of the originals.

That's an overreaction and it wasn't the purpose of that scene at all ...

It's just a joking reference to the rest of the series. Literally no other fanbase was so out of touch and offended by a simple joke. It's just a misunderstanding, simple as t hat. Ironically enough, the character gets white hair by the end of the game anyways, and Nero's hair in DMCV is almost the exact same as Dmc Dante's White hair in the end of the game.

He gets white hair but it isn't the same hairstyle. And yes, Nero is like him, but it was a jab at DMC3, a very popular title. He says: "Not in a million years". Well, turns out it didn't take that many to go back to it with DMC5.

It's disrespectful of the source material. For a "joke" it wasn't the right one to make with the already existing controversy envyronment.

Honestly, if they didn't have that defiant attitude the game would've done better. The thing is they made themselves easy to dislike when they bring the hate from the internet sphere to the actual game.

Actually, the original concept art for Dmc is way more faithful to the series. It was Capcom who called for even more drastic changes. Then from their Ninja Theory handled the bad PR ... well ... badly. Which is to be expected from such a, at the time, small fry studio.

I don't mean the character design, i mean the wig scene. I doubt it was Capcom that told them to do that.

Phones will never replace consoles and PC. They have touch controls and tiny screens. It's a completely different gaming experience. I think you are the one simplifying it and assuming the only difference between systems will be the technical specs.

Different platforms are suited to different gaming styles. It's just how it is. This platform agnostic you try to pass along, just like the other one, is just another word for confused.

That's what it is for. You get to play on the platform of your choosing and not only on a set of hardware specific to gaming like PC's with high end GPU's and consoles.

It wouldn't replace what we have it would just offer more ways to play the game. Sony is doing it with PS Now and it will get better with modern advancements.

I get what you are saying and I agree. Some people simply want to play on Portable devices, some want the Console expereince, and some want the PC expereince. Once streaming gets sorted out, there will be a segment of the market that is content just streaming. It is in the best interest of any company in the industry to make sure they are reaching the widest userbase possible. That means supporting all of these sectors. For Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, that means offering more form factors that have a shared software library, so they can reach the $100 streaming audeince, the $300 - $500 Console/Handheld audience, and the $1000 high end Console/Handheld market. For a company like EA, Ubisoft, Activision, or any other 3rd party, that means putting your games on every platform possible, iOS, Android, Windows/Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and Streaming.

I know good number of people that used to be COD only, that have now moved to Fortnite and/or PUBG, and have no interest going back to COD because they can't play on their iPhone/Android devices. In places where you can get a solid connection anywhere you go, this is already becoming a real thing. The casual audience, just wants to be able to access their content on whatever device they are using, they don't care about 4K, 60FPS, Ray Tracing, Cloud Computing, X86, ARM, OLED, or any other "nonsense". All they care about is that they can play there game whatever device the have on them, or whatever is hooked up to their TV. Hell I even know people that do everything via mirroring their Phone to the TV. I have one co-worker that I played Destiny, Fifa, and COD with after PS4 came out that, doesn't touch his PS4 anymore, because he either plays games on his phone, or mirrors his phone to his TV. Even though he could play Fortnite on the PS4, he would rather just play on his Phone.

Gaming is changing. Console makers and publishers are going to have to evolve with the audience or they will eventually be pushed aside, as indies that support the audience, become AAA studios and the landscape shifts. I know some people will say consoles are fine, look at PS4 at 80 million, look at PS4/XBO/Switch with close to 140 Million units sold. Well look at PSP and DS with 230 million units sold, then look at PS Vita and 3DS with 90 million sold. If consoles do not offer the basic necessities of a home device in 2020, they can disappear just as fast as handhelds did. If the PlayStation, Windows/Xbox, and Nintendo Ecosystems, can not go toe to toe with iOS and Android as a viable one stop shop for all of your personal computing needs, they are going to shink to unsustainable numbers.

So, yes platform agnostic gaming is a huge deal, and I hope Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are prepaired to do what they have to, to thrive and survive. I don't want to see another PS Vita/3DS scenario, where they refuse to add the most basic features, and just give up the market.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

This was my point but you said it better than I could.

Really, who are "mobile gamers"? Cause i can only imagine those gamers as people who play in very short spurts of time every once in a while. So... that's the only kind of experience that can work on mobile. But, as more games appear, theres less room for new ones.

I find it hard to believe that anyone who considers themself as a gamer doesn’t have a few on their smartphone - they’re mostly free, well, initially.  Maybe they’re not being honest about playing on mobile because clicking their phone once every few hours to collect coins might sound embarrassing - but it’s silly.  They’re fun time wasters when you have time to kill.  In line at the DMV/supermarket, doctor’s office, mother-in-laws, mental breaks in between work, etc.  I have about 6 games on my phone I regularly play - PUBG is one of those.

I'm a gamer.  I play on Xbox One, PC, and mobile - and I’m not ashamed of that.
