Forums - Gaming Discussion - Cyberpunk is a first person shooter RPG, play as male or female

Even if you call it apt, it's still a poor analogy, since we're talking about a cosmetic issue instead of a mechanical issue.  If you'd said something about fender skirts perhaps.  And most people can't draw worth a damn.  I know that when I played AD&D, I didn't even try to draw anything.  My friend did ... and then erased it because it looked like Groo the Wanderer.

Because it's a feature people like does not mean that it now defines the genre.  If someone released a hand-crank car today, no one would buy it.  If Cyberpunk released tomorrow without a 3rd person view, it would still sale very well.

I mean, you can make any analogy wrong by reading too much into it. Usually people only do that when they don't like the major concept being presented, this one being that values change over time.

Just because an aspect of the game isn't integral to the actual systems of the game doesn't mean it isn't an important aspect. So again I'll ask in this thread: what kind of fan response do you think Bethesda would get if you couldn't customize a character in TES6? Do you think gamers would be indifferent because they  don't find customization and viewing their character to be important in high profile RPGs?

Hey, it's not my fault that you didn't make a better analogy.  Don't blame me for pointing that out.  The avenue was there for you to make a more sensible comparison.  Aesthetics are not mechanics.  You tried to present the lack of TPP as being on the same level as a hand-cranked car when you know it's nowhere close.  That's your fault.

The entire point of what I said was that, "claiming it's some kind of integral part of the genre simply isn't true."  If you're admitting that now then what is your problem?

As for TES, you're talking about removing a feature from a series as opposed to starting a series without that feature being present from the start.  That's not the same thing and you know it.  Unless you're saying that no one is going to buy Cyberpunk?  If that's the case then just go ahead and say that.

Do people really hate first-person that much now?

The game looks interesting and first-person is more immersive for me, so Im in.

I think fatigue is probably setting in for a lot of people. FPS ARE a little over done, don't you think?

I love Deus Ex and being a FPS will make it unique instead of being Witcher 3 in the future.

No point?

What the fuck?

You do know what an RPG is right? If you can't see your character, if you can't customize your character, it's not much of a role play is it?

You can fuck the what all you want. I'm not interested.

It is very much a roleplay, not the way you like it to be but it is.

First person rpg's have been around since the beginning of the genre and they made western rpg's in what they're today,if you would be talking about jrpgs it would be a different story.

Im also happy that they dont just make a witcher game  with a futuristic setting but a brand new unique IP .

Oh hey, cool, the point continues to fly over your head even though I pointed it out to you. Not only that, but you insist on implying the only important thing is game mechanics, because apparently nothing else matters. That's why every game ever made uses basic representative geometric shapes on simple colored backdrops. Games also don't tell stories, either, because that has nothing to do with the game mechanics.

Wait, those things do matter. In fact, the setting of the game we're talking about is one of the most anticipated aspects of it. And no, I'm not saying no one is going to get Cyberpunk. That would be ridiculous.

But a lot of people who were interested based on previous CDPR games no longer are.

There are reasons why they went first person. The immersion and the stuff they can do with that point of view (like when you get your eye removed and then it gets replaced/upgraded...) having those things happen in third person wouldn't have the same impact.

I'm glad I'm not closed-minded like so many people in this thread.

Because from the reports, who got to see the game behind closed doors, Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be a game changer.

There needs to be marketinterest and it does not always need to be the same group of people, first person games are popular so they maybe have lost buyers but gained others.

The folks that want an upgraded witcher will be pleased when CDPR makes another witcher but for now i am more than happy i will get a unique experience with cyberpunk 2077,i also do not want companys to listen to thousand different opinions and try to please them while getting lost on the way. I just want them to put heart and soul into the game they want to make.

Ah, taking a class in the Disney Star Wars style of fandom building? Discard the fandom that built you up for reasons?

Sorry, but that's dumb. Even if they had just included a third person option like Elder Scrolls, they could have retained a large portion of their audience. Instead they can just wait for another Witcher, right? The ones that stay, anyhow.

Nah. Let the fans of their other franchise (Witcher) complain and whine over something they haven't even experienced yet.

What is dumb is to ask the developer to let gamers build the game themselves instead of following their vision and show artistic integrity.

But sure, let's have all games be made like FF XV.

No, it's more dumb to build a fanbase for several years and then decide to abandon them for a different kind of fanbase.

And FFXV isn't involved in this at all, so why are you bringing it up?
