There are reasons why they went first person. The immersion and the stuff they can do with that point of view (like when you get your eye removed and then it gets replaced/upgraded...) having those things happen in third person wouldn't have the same impact.
I'm glad I'm not closed-minded like so many people in this thread.
Because from the reports, who got to see the game behind closed doors, Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be a game changer.
