I liked phils emphasis on xbox isn't going anywhere. Love that they finally bought some new studios and building one. Can't wait to see what they all end up making.

Yes this was really good.

Also, even if far away, I really liked them letting people know that Game Console is not going away by revealing their team is already working on next console.

Very interesting development. To be honest, I think this is in preparation for game pass (which I think will become very important eventually - subscriptions that give you acces to loads of content has been the development in every other entertainment industry and it will happen to games as well). The more content you make yourself, the less you have to pay to other parties to get additional content. It's the same reason Netflix and Prime Video spend billions of dollars each year on original programming - they are trying to become less dependent on external content creators (and they are succeeding at it too). I expect Sony will eventually launch a similar service as well.

Basically, I expect we'll see consolidation of studios in the coming years. More purchases and merges.

EDIT: BTW, who is this "Micorosoft" you are talking about? New key player in the industry?

Its good that they are expanding although The initiative is terrible name for a studio. Sound like some VR or something different studio.

The Coalition and The Initiative sound more like factions of a Bungie game.

The Covenant, The Flood, The Hive, The Fallen, The Arbyter, The Cartographer...

I think this was one of Microsoft's best announcements this E3. They're really bolstering up their 1st party studio count. Which only means more exclusives for them. I think they're going to tear up on the next Xbox, whatever form it takes.

They’ve still got a long way to go before they’re at the same level as Sony and Nintendo. But it’s a solid start.

I knew MS really loved Undead Labs. No Remedy but oh well, maybe next year

Oh how I love the Hypocrisy of some people saying that MS buying studios is bad and should just build them, Seems like people forget that Sony bought and did not build Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games and Suckerpunch.

Great news from Microsoft, finally some good investment in first party studios. Microsoft can also focus 2nd Party studios partnership to feel in the gap.

2019 is looking amazing .... Overdue Crackdown 3, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Forza, Cuphead DLC & Gears 5.

I think people have no issues Microsoft buying Playground games and undead laps who made only exclusive games to xbox one like naughty dog, Guerrilla Games and Suckerpunch did before they were acquired by sony. People probably have more issues the studios that were making multiplat games till today.

MS is definitely making some bold moves for their next gen console. Already building a solid rapport with all these announcements at their E3. In order to foster good faith, they also are keeping up with some good deals.
