Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Nintendo Switch is no better than the Wii

So far, yes. Which is not a bad thing btw, it's still a better situation than Wii U's. But I think it will keep getting better overtime.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Switch can be played as a handheld, so it's inherently better than the Wii.

It's better for one simple reason... 1:1 controls. Fuck waggle.

Behave, Switch is light years better than Wii and the 3rd party stuff has been fine for the most part. The Indie scene on Switch seems to be creating more of a buzz too.

Wii was successful, wasn't it? I see no problem.

Most of those games you mentioned i can get on my PC, so I don't feel that bad for their absence. I'll support them if they come to the Switch, but I have other priorities regarding port begging (NamcoBandai, bring the Digimon gameeees).

You know it deserves the GOTY.

You need first to realise that Switch (or probably any other Nintendo platform) will never have 3rd party on pair of PS4/XB1 in any case.

Second, you need to realise that Switch comes after worst selling Nintendo console ever, so plenty of devs taked "wait and see aprouch" with Switch, while other that actually had some games had only around 1-2 games and they were mostly smaller games. Thats why after Switch proved that's success and and already has bigger install base than Wii U, plenty of devs last few months promised more games and stronger support for Switch, and thats why few days ago Panic Button (team that ported Doom, Rocket League and its porting Wolfenstein 2 for Switch) said they are overwhelmed buy requests for Switch ports in degree that they are forced to choose on what project they will work, and that "now every developer wants their game to be on the Switch". Also you need to realise that porting games requires times, if plenty of devs decided to port their games on Switch last few months, that means that we will start seeing those games from second half of 2018. Switch is less than one year on market and we alredy know for games like Skyrim, Doom, Wolfenstein 2 and Dark Souls, so Switch will have more bigger 3rd party games than Wii in any case.

But you already made similar thread before and you already recived similar responses, so I dont think you want to understand them this time also.

I don't think "lazy ports" is fair. There are multiple third party games that show effort and are of good quality. Doom and Mario+Rabbids come to mind.

I think whether or not there’s 3rd party support the switch is already better than Wii simply cos it’s less of a casual/party game//granny console and something an actual video game fan might like to own and use. Despite its success the Wii was a novelty item (it wasn’t intended to be one but that’s what it became)...Nintendo seem to want to cater to their ‘proper’ fan base again.
