Hmm, was just actually looking at the Pro 5mins ago, yet to play horizon. Wonder if this makes it more worth while, not planning on 4K for probably like forever.

If you're never going to get 4K I don't think a Pro is worthwhile for you.  Get a regular PS4 and spend the extra money on a solid state drive.  That'll give you a more obvious benefit.

That’s a bad recommendation actually. PS4 Slim won’t benefit much from an SSD, Pro will. It will also improve framerates on most games, picture quality, loading times plus it will hold its value much better. Imho it’d be stupid to cheap out and not get a Pro. Especially after this update came out.

PSVR option is another reason.

I only have 1080p screens and can honestly say the FPS and graphical updates on certain games has made it worthwhile for me. I guess it depends on how much you care about cost vs performance. I would rather not play a standard ps4 now that I've played the Pro.

Bought a Metal Slime edition PS4 instead. Massive DQ fan, will go well with the release of DQ 11.

I can wait for PS5.

Well, too late then I guess.

For people with trouble following all those frames at once.

Framerate isn't as big of a deal for some as it is for you.

I know it isn't. Which is why I'm happy that people get more choice. The opposite kind of choice that I would like but at least something.

So now that they've done something to cater to people who hate high framerates I hope they will do something for people like me next.

PS4 Pro has boost mode that increases framerate in games with unlocked framerates. DF did an analysis of the boost mode on AC: Unity and Fallout 4 and the difference is big.

There are some games that support increased framerates without boost mode too. Infamous: Second Son and Shadow of the Colossus run at 60fps on Pro.

Now I am interested in a PS4.

Can a Playstation 4 Pro owner tell me if they have native 1440P output support? My Xbox One X doesn't, and I don't want to game at 1080P.

The Pro doesn't either. I do chuckle at how the responses you got from non-Pro owners, though.

Well. If they know more than me about a topic, then all the power to them. :P

Still considering the Playstation 4 Pro either way. Just not happy about being stuck at only 1080P.

I guess I don't know for sure how much a slim will benefit from a better drive.  However, I own a PS4 Pro with a stock drive, and an XB1S with solid state drive.  The XB is a rocket ship compared to both the Pro and an unmodified XBone.  Of course, this only affects the loading times.  But, it is a real, tangible difference that comes in to play every time you play anything.

Pro supports SATA3 which Slim doesn’t, so the difference should be noticeable. That said, according to DF Pro definitely has improved loading times compared to base PS4 with the standard drive, as well as with an SSD,  but here only by a relatively small margin. Both consoles seem to benefit greatly by an SSD. So seems my statement wasn’t 100% correct.

look at it from the bright side......

with this you are getting supersampled 1080p.

or u could also just throw down $400 and buy a 55" TCL 4k HDR tv. would work both ways for ur PC and console gaming. They also have sub 20ms  input lag.

I would rather a supersampled 1440P image. :P

1440P is a 78% pixel increase over 1080P. There is a difference.

My monitor is my primary gaming display, it's a 32" 1440P, IPS panel.
And the reason why I would prefer to use it over a tv is simple. Superior input lag, it will still beat that TCL tv every day of the week.

I also have an LG TV that is bigger and better than that TCL anyway, but I prefer to use that for watching movies and tv.

Oh, nothing against those folks. I just found it rather amusing! Seems like people who don't own these things are often in-the-know.

Regardless, that's really one of biggest gripes with both Premium platforms.

I agree. They should support all popular 16:9 resolution right out of the box, many games are being rendered at 1440P and would look right at home on a 1440P display.

Just received my code. Also got accepted into the Beta Tester team. Now I'll get into all future betas.
