That’s a bad recommendation actually. PS4 Slim won’t benefit much from an SSD, Pro will. It will also improve framerates on most games, picture quality, loading times plus it will hold its value much better. Imho it’d be stupid to cheap out and not get a Pro. Especially after this update came out.

PSVR option is another reason

 

I guess I don't know for sure how much a slim will benefit from a better drive.  However, I own a PS4 Pro with a stock drive, and an XB1S with solid state drive.  The XB is a rocket ship compared to both the Pro and an unmodified XBone.  Of course, this only affects the loading times.  But, it is a real, tangible difference that comes in to play every time you play anything.
