Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would you be interested in a different Switch ala PS Vita TV?

I think a handheld only model makes more sense, honestly.

I don't think that's coming either, honestly.

Well that would be a dumb idea because that would be removing a great feature without reducing the price. Perhaps you want a clamshell design like DS/3DS, but that could be accomplished without removing its ability to work on a TV. Its possible to accomplish that now with some accessory that may exist down the road.

If I could buy a cheap Switch console that only connects to a TV  for about $150-$200, I would buy that right now.

I think $150 would be fair given significantly more powerful devices like X1 and PS4 are hitting $199 with free games.

No it will ruin market perception. It will be like biting themselves in the ass.

Like the 2DS and New 3DS and New 2DS...

I think the market is smart enough to understand portable/home console Switch, versus home console only Switch. It would also be given a name like Switch TV.

Giving people a cheaper entry would only grow the Switch userbase.

i think the  Switchuserbase is growing fast enough already, maintain focus on the primary Switch for now and look into something like this in a couple of years. Also, while consumers on this forum can tell the diff, gift buyers and even dertain casual consumers may not.

as the tittle says, would you be interested in a Switch that doesn't switch and it's always like the docked Switch because you are not interested in mobility. i would buy one, because i don't want to pay for a screen, battery and those detachable controllers if i will never use them... anyone else would prefer this (cheaper console) instead of the full hybrid that is the current Switch?

First of all, that's not what your title says. Im not even sure what it says tbh.

Also, you never get a perm docked Switch. It's in the name - Switch. A Switch that can't switch isn't a Switch.

In a couple years the Switch might be $199 already. So a Switch TV would be like $130-150.

Given the current sales of Switch I agree its not a priority but its still something I believe people want.

We get the gimmick, but its a console called the Switch.

The 2DS didn't have its own games, it played 3DS games.

Hell no. I like the fact that I get both worlds with the system that was actually produced.

EDIT: Also, the detachable controllers would still be a part of the package. That or, some games would require a pair of Wii-Motes because the Joy-Cons are essentially that. 1-2 Switch for example is pure motion controls. There's also another game that can't be played docked. It requires the use of touch.

4 ≈ One

I've already got a Switch, so no. I think it's much more likely that Nintendo would make a handheld only Switch before they make a home console only version.
As is, I almost exclusively use my Switch in the docked mode. I am playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 2 right now, which I know from Digital Foundry suffers immensely in portable mode.
