I would love if Hiroyuki Ito directed it.
I would an evolution of 12's battle system

Thats about it for me.

There was a battle system in 12?  I set my controller down and walked out of the room during boss fights.  Came back later and the battle was won.

I'd prefer less of an action and more of a turn based system.

Id like them to go back to pre FF X style. I wouldn't even mind if it had half the budget. I want it feel like it did when Final Fantasy could do no wrong

My only expectation is that it's going to take a good while before it comes out. As to wishes, I probably don't have a lot. I kind of wish they went for a more traditional Final Fantasy game in many ways. One thing I'd like is less technology, I suppose.

I want it to be good, nothing more than that.

I don't particularly expect anything. I feel it's something that might appear in the late 20's or not at all.
Until then, I think SE will continue to focus on FF14 and milking the 15 universe; oh, and the 7R episode series which should conclude... 2025 maybe?

Now, assuming it does make a timely appearance sometime in the next 7 years, I don't necessarily assume it's wise to speculate on anything. The whole trademark of the franchise is to be different everytime, so I doubt we could predict it's next steps. Though it is more likely that it will be sci-fi/techno/western as opposed to heavy fantasy (FF9), that kind of stuff is considered Niche these days by SE so they relegate that to smaller projects. Combat also has a very high chance of not being turn based, also due to the considered-nicheness of it.

To FFVIII? No, thank you.

No more timed events, please.

To have terrible Normura designs. To be unfinished. High budget and just above average as an RPG.
