Forums - Nintendo Discussion - EA is not committed to Switch, they don't understand the Switch market yet.

I think the argument you're making is ignorant. But more importantly EA and Nintendo are leaning into where they've found the most success.

Even if Nintendo could make a good sim, does their audience want that? No, thats why Nintendo keeps making Zelda and countless Mario games.

Ubisoft caters to the Nintendo audience more than EA, but Ubisoft's bread and butter in not Nintendo.

.... countless Marios and Zeldas???? They make those at the very most twice per gen(or 0 in the WiiUs case). Mario? I mean since 1996 there has been 5 3D marios(M64, SMS, GAL1+2 and Odyssey) and 6 console Zeldas(OoT, MM, WW, SS, TP, BoTW). In 21 years there has been 11 mainline Marios and Zeldas combined. Get that shit out of here man. Don't try to make it look like Nintendo is going Activision or EA on their franchises.

Oh boy, you don't include handheld releases and you ignore side games like Kart, Party, Mario sports games, etc.

Seriously, your argument is very weak and Nintendo is very guilty of milking their IPs. I'm not really complaining though, just don't twist reality.

First of all, I totally disagree with him. Just a disclaimer.

However, there are countless Mario titles. Wether it's 2d series, 3D series, paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, marioXrabbids, Mario golf, party, strikers, tennis, or whatever, there are countless Mario games (and that's not a bad thing imo)

with Zelda, in the years 2011-2017, we have seen skyward sword, oot3D, hyrule warriors, mm3d, Albw, triforce heroes, wind waker hd, twilight princess hd, breath of the wild

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

So in that "list" list of Zelda games you laid out 4 HD updates (not new games) and 3 spinoffs that have nothing to do with the main games. My point was that a new real Zelda or Mario is still a big deal an event you could say. There is a difference between a Mario game and a game with Mario in it. Or at least that is how I see it. Even say like Mario Kart, that is just branding. These days there are like 30+ racers in the game and the themes of the tracks span Nintendo's entire portfolio. They keep the name Mario Kart strictly for branding reasons. It is definitely not a "Mario" game.

I do agree you could count 2D Mario games, which I guess adds about 3 for console over the past 26 years...

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

EA could make a Dungeon Keeper Remake or Theme Hospital Remake for the switch. I don't see it being such an issue. But EA has to find a reason to implement loot crates into the game. ...

Forget what I said about reason, the do it anyway...

Exactly, Mr Pugsly is trying to say Nintendo is an outlier.

Again, you're misinterpreting.

Compared to other platforms the Nintendo audience is the outlier and that's why they don't get a lot of the same popular titles on other platforms.

Doom and Wolfenstein are coming to Switch because a big audience for those games is there per se. They are testing the water to see if audience is there. But much like CoD on Wii, games like that could do well at first and fade.

The thing is 3rd parties caused the outliers in the first place. When Wii was announced everyone banked on the PS3 to kill the competition. At the time it was understandable considering the success of PS2.

By the time the big franchises come out, many Nintendo fans bought the other systems, me included. At that point it become pointless buying those games on a Nintendo system as they either come out late or not at all.

We are at the point were they need to build the audience again. Some will go back to Nintendo only and some will remain multiconsole gamers like me.

However the kids who turn to teens will stick with Nintendo as the games are there for them to play. If the games are not their for them they will move on to the other systems.

Well, this is not my argument lol. I don't think Nintendo is milking their IPS , mr puggsly  is. By my definition, it can't be called milking since they still deliver a high quality product with thought and effort ( with the exception of a few like Mario party).

you see, my stance is they have done a good job of making it clear when it is a "real" Mario or Zelda game and when it is just a branding thing.

I do agree that they have been a tab bit too lose with the licenses the past 8-10 years though. Back in the gamecube and n64 days having Mario on a game meant it was well developed and back in those days Zelda had not really been commercialized (Soul Caliber 2 was like the 1st time ever Link appeared in a non Zelda main line game...)

Oh... I disagree. I feel like the core audience started to fade with N64 as much of the audience went to PS1. Although N64 was a great platform for console shooters which eventually became more popular on PS2 and OG Xbox, while Gamecube continued to lose the core audience but had good support because it was easy to support. The 6th gen was the last time Nintendo had comparable specs to the competition.

3rd parties didn't just support PS3, they thrived on the combined audience of PS3 and 360... or as I call it the PS360. The PS360 had a larger audience than Wii and sold more software. PS360 also thrived on core IPs versus Wii's amazing success with the casual audience. The Kinect and Move exist because they wanted some of that casual money.

If Nintendo isn't gonna push specs, I don't know how they can appeal to the core audience in a big way. Switch doesn't get many significant core games and it struggles to handle a game like Doom. There is certainly an audience for Switch and it seems to be big, but its not gonna steal the core audience from X1 and PS4.

I think we agree Switch is a great device to own along with another platform. That's why I have a Wii U, for experiences I don't get from other platforms. But I don't see how any avid gamer is content with just a Switch. But maybe that's okay, as long as people want a Switch it doesn't matter if they own another platform as well.

I literally have no idea what so ever why EA will not put The Sims 4 or Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare onto the Nintendo Switch. Both of those games would sell like hot cakes, and possibly in my opinion even out sell xbox one versions released at the same time.

Not to mention that Pokemon is near annualized series ...
