So it'll launch with lots of native 4k AAA titles. Very impressive.

I've waited on this to play through games like Quantum Break, Gears, and Halo Wars :)

Don't forget Recore and Sunset Overdrive.

Both getting the Xbox One X treatment.

Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2, Titanfall 2, Quantum Break, Killer Instinct, Path of Exile, World of Tanks

So I bought GOW4 and QB but have not played them yet due to work, game back log and family obligations. I have decided that I will be waiting on my X1X to play those games. I definitely plan on getting Path to Exile and World of Tanks at some point. Have Killer Instinct and Titanfall 2 so definitely looking to see how they fair with the 4K updates.

From the article, wondering how many titles actually achieve true 4K and what the IQ difference will be when we can compare to the PS4 Pro

In the case of Killer Instinct, it still seems to be held back by Xbox One levels of assets.
So hopefully it gets an upgrade on that front at some point... It is one of the best fighting games of the generation.

Yep Recore and Sunset, two more gems I put off finishing so I could do so on Scorpio.

I own almost every game they showed. Looking forward to seeing them first hand. A couple of third party games I purchased because of my EA Access discount but always felt bad going with the Xbone version instead of PS4 Pro. Now I don't feel bad at all!

Finally we get some details on Xbox One X Enhanced games.

Overall, Xbox One X's Gamescom turn-out does what E3 didn't - it shows us a cross-section of titles from first and third party developers working on triple-A, double-A and indie titles, giving us an early look at how well game-makers across the board are getting to grips with the new hardware. We're told by Monolith that working with X is basically the same as developing for the base model, albeit with a far higher level of processing power to work with. The simplicity of development likely explains the consistency in results we saw across titles regardless of the source material. The scaling here is essentially in line with Microsoft's messaging, not to mention its internal early hardware benchmarks.

And it's that consistency in results - from the games we've seen thus far, at least - that is heartening. With every new PlayStation 4 Pro game that comes along, there's a sense of the unknown about what enhancements are actually going to manifest, and the extent to which an investment in a 4K screen actually pays off. Just like Sony, Microsoft has left the door open to developers to do what they want with the hardware, but certainly based on the titles we've seen so far, the delineation between the two models looks far more clear cut - Xbox One X is the console for your 4K screen, and anything else in addition to that (like Tomb Raider's multiple rendering modes) is a bonus. It's an impressive early showing then, and with over 100 games set for X enhancements, the chances are we're going to be kept really busy from November 7th onwards.

100 X enhanced games?!?!?!?!?! So it's not a next gen console but a "resurrect old games" console at a premium price point. So Xbox X is basically a very powerful emulator. Maybe they should have named it Xbox MAME❗

Come on Microsoft, fund new original AAA IP❗❗Take a chance for crying out loud. Eg if Sony hadn't taken a chance with Demon's Souls, the other consoles would never have received Dark Souls etc.

I like to think of it as a "Whatever you play, it'll play best on Xbox One X" console. -Unless you have an awesome PC, that is.

Sweet! I am sure those games will look great in 4K! Sadly I will not be getting the X1X I waited long enough just to get the Gears 4 special edition lol. Maybe in about 2 years unless the PS5/X1X2 are out

Really happy with XOX. Microsoft made a great choice with the 12GB of RAM. I think that is the biggest mis-step Sony made with the Pro. Extra memory means better IQ, and 4K really shows the fine details.

Glad to have mine on Pre-Order, and look forward to catching up on the stuff I have missed in Microsofts ecosystem the last few years. Hope that the XOX is just the start of higher end boxes from MS. As I have said before, I would love to see Xbox turn into Surface TV or Surface Home, and become a full fledge in house PC. I can imagine how great Windows could be if MS built a massively optimized version for a finely engineered range of boxes.

Eh, I feel like Sony made the right call with the Pro. The X1X is something Microsoft needed as a means to makes things interesting, again. Sony already had the most powerful box, so the Pro was of no consequence either way (and I think it's worked out better for them, given 1-in-every-5 PS4s sold is a Pro). Come Fall, they have the Destiny 2 Pro Bundle and may even reduce the price to $349.99 in November. They're in a good spot.

Regarding the X1X, it's not for Joe Average. Rather, for people like myself who like having the most powerful consoles and aren't worried as much about budget. Microsoft has hit the right notes with those folks (as was expected). The real kicker lies with the future. With them claiming they're "done with generations", it'll be interesting to see how the X1X holds up. And the DF face-offs..... I look very much forward to that ( and not because of Pro vs X1X, either). How it stacks up to the PC is primarily where my studies will be.

I also am very interested in how the X1X stacks up to the PC.  Exactly how much will the X1X be able to meet feature by feature and still retain good performance.  Will developers do what Crystal D did and have 3 different modes to satisfy every gamer.  Having a performance mode with Checkerboarding 60FPS I believe would be awesome for gamers who just want speed over IQ.

Not sure if this has been covered but I am wondering if the PS4 Pro receives 4K assets for its patch.  From some reading I have done, I have not seen or heard any developer providing those assets. The reason I asked because it seems the updates for the X1X will also include 4K assets as well as native 4K.  I am wondering about the IQ difference this would make compared to a high sample checkerboarding technique.

I am just glad we have both options, and so far the Pro is doing well. I really hope it leads to a future where we have more options in the console space. I am somewhere between the idea of no generations and scalable hardware though. I do believe in a generational leap at some point, and a new baseline being set. I kind of see these types of boxes being a good way to help extend a generation until we can reach a point when the new baseline will have a significant impact.

Ultimately I would love to see one more revision to each the XBO and PS4 before we jump to the next gen. We will just have to see how well the XOX does, and how Pro and XOX fair as time passes. I think with the success of the Pro so far, this is definitly something that is on the table at both companies.

I don't think the Pro will see a whole lot of 4K assets. 4K assets need more memory. Pro only has 9GB total RAM compaired to 12GB on the XOX. XOX has both more, and faster RAM than the Pro.

To both of you. I am also very interested to see how XOX stacks up to PC. That is the end goal. I would love to have the option of a console, on par or better than the best single CPU/GPU PC. The XOX won't achieve it, but I am interested to see how close it is.

I plan on getting one but first I have to get a 4K TV which is what I am going for this holiday.

Now I want to hear about how the games look on a 1080p display supersampled.

Downsampling is only part of the story... But it does make things look clean and sharp.
And if a game has had it's textures, filtering, effects and such all enhanced, you get the benefit of those too irrespective of your resolution.

Granted it will look best on a 4k TV. But it is not a requirement.

I am thinking what it can do is play the same exact games as a much less expensive xbox one.
