Eh, I feel like Sony made the right call with the Pro. The X1X is something Microsoft needed as a means to makes things interesting, again. Sony already had the most powerful box, so the Pro was of no consequence either way (and I think it's worked out better for them, given 1-in-every-5 PS4s sold is a Pro). Come Fall, they have the Destiny 2 Pro Bundle and may even reduce the price to $349.99 in November. They're in a good spot.

Regarding the X1X, it's not for Joe Average. Rather, for people like myself who like having the most powerful consoles and aren't worried as much about budget. Microsoft has hit the right notes with those folks (as was expected). The real kicker lies with the future. With them claiming they're "done with generations", it'll be interesting to see how the X1X holds up. And the DF face-offs..... I look very much forward to that ( and not because of Pro vs X1X, either). How it stacks up to the PC is primarily where my studies will be.

I am just glad we have both options, and so far the Pro is doing well. I really hope it leads to a future where we have more options in the console space. I am somewhere between the idea of no generations and scalable hardware though. I do believe in a generational leap at some point, and a new baseline being set. I kind of see these types of boxes being a good way to help extend a generation until we can reach a point when the new baseline will have a significant impact.

Ultimately I would love to see one more revision to each the XBO and PS4 before we jump to the next gen. We will just have to see how well the XOX does, and how Pro and XOX fair as time passes. I think with the success of the Pro so far, this is definitly something that is on the table at both companies.

I also am very interested in how the X1X stacks up to the PC.  Exactly how much will the X1X be able to meet feature by feature and still retain good performance.  Will developers do what Crystal D did and have 3 different modes to satisfy every gamer.  Having a performance mode with Checkerboarding 60FPS I believe would be awesome for gamers who just want speed over IQ.

Not sure if this has been covered but I am wondering if the PS4 Pro receives 4K assets for its patch.  From some reading I have done, I have not seen or heard any developer providing those assets. The reason I asked because it seems the updates for the X1X will also include 4K assets as well as native 4K.  I am wondering about the IQ difference this would make compared to a high sample checkerboarding technique.

I don't think the Pro will see a whole lot of 4K assets. 4K assets need more memory. Pro only has 9GB total RAM compaired to 12GB on the XOX. XOX has both more, and faster RAM than the Pro.

To both of you. I am also very interested to see how XOX stacks up to PC. That is the end goal. I would love to have the option of a console, on par or better than the best single CPU/GPU PC. The XOX won't achieve it, but I am interested to see how close it is.
