Well, it looks like the side-quest system is more guided. I was hoping that was the case, I think that side-quests in the first XC were... a bit ambiguous to say the least xD. It looks brilliant. Also, I'm really glad that they changed the character models in this game. I really think it was the weak point of the previous entries.

X's side quests were bad in regards to the collecting random things.

Not gonna watch, but I hope not too guided. I hope guided only means it tells you better where to go and not a giant blinking quest icon or arrows on the ground guiding you.

I found Xenoblade Chronicles 1 side quests to be great in how they were done. Only annoying things were when a fetch quest required one to find an item that had like a 1% drop rate in like only 2 destinated locations. X was really bad in this. Found myself many times jus tdoing circles in an area collecting every blue dot and hoping I get it. Then if not, coming back later to hope again. You just had to get lucky to get it. Stuff like that should have been a "red" item in a set location. I have no qualms about fetch quests, just not rare rng fetch quests.

Yeah, the item collecting missions are a pain in the ass. They are boring and tedious. Just running up and down the same path only to get that specific item.

Lot's of games releasing lately, totally forgot Rocket League was coming in the next few days. o.o

Also here's Reggie doing some Switch PR stuff:

Wii U's Failure Is Responsible For Switch's Success, Says Reggie

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/11/wii_us_failure_is_responsible_for_switchs_success_says_reggie

The Wii U's unique feature was its GamePad controller, but many feel Nintendo didn't effectively communicate why this element was so innovative. Reggie says that getting the marketing right with Switch was paramount:

"We worked hard for the Nintendo Switch to make it crystal clear what the proposition is. It's a home system that you can take on the go, play anywhere with anyone, and that's resonating."

Wii U also suffered from a lack of games, with months often passing between AAA first-party launches. Again, the NoA boss says the company has worked hard to ensure this doesn't happen with Switch:

"We've addressed that with the Nintendo Switch -- having a steady pace of new launches is critical."

Finally, Fils-Aimé pointed out that Switch has received excellent games from a wide range of software partners - while admitting that the Wii U lacked this same "strong support" during its lifetime:

"Whether it's the big companies like Electronic Arts, or whether it's the smaller independent developer, we need those companies to create content to support us. We have that now with Nintendo Switch."

---

I mean I guess he's technically right, but I think Nintendo would have preferred not having to work so hard to come back from a failed product and just have a much smoother transition

Agree, it didn't help the fact that in XCX the fetch quests only specify the continent (which are huge) and some of them are way more common in some areas of the same continent. But you didn't have a clue about in what area were you supposed to look. I ended downloading a map with collectibles and its drop rate, because I couldn't stand those missions without a more clear guidance. I still think that side-quests generally in XCX were improved, they were more interesting in terms of plot and world-building (which in the end made the main plot feel more barebones, though), and it was more guided than in the first game, except for the fetch quests which were boring and painful in both games. So I prefer to have a more guided structure in XC2. Optional, though. For people who prefer to find them for themselves.

That joke near the end about Pyra's weight is truly the pinnacle of writing for the Xenoblade series.

Anyone get around to getting the Xenoblade outfit in Breath of the Wild yet?

Is it obvious how to get, or without looking up guides, would one just be mindlessly searching for some new chests in the world?

I hear there is supposed to be some new side quest that involves it, so I assume not just hidden chests. Do they tell you where it starts?

I have it, it's a neat little bit of cross promotion.  It's obtained with a little sidequest.  Basically, a little riddle of sorts takes you to the chests.  It's nothing hard to figure out.

Like a riddle form a new NPC that pops up somewhere in the world or do you get some sort of like just in game letter you can read or something that has the riddle? Don't want to be spoiled, but also don't want to spend 5 hours searching the world for the start.
