I think the Switch can survive without these heavy hitters, Nintendo consoles are bought for Nintendo games, I'm sure we're all tired of hearing that but the more 3rd party stuff they can snag, the better. It should help prevent the drought that the Wii U had.

Still, it feels like to me that whoever owns a Switch will probably also have an XB1/PS4/Gaming PC, where as a lot of people can do with just a PS4, XB1 or PC...if that sentence even made sense. Having just a Switch feels like you're missing out on a lot more games rather than having just a PS4, XB1 or PC.

As for the question in the pole, it's the hardware. It is weak, there is no getting around it. It's a phenomenal handheld but a lack luster home console and unless it sells unpar with the PS4 for years to come (which seems likely based on the first few months), I don't think many 3rd party devs will go out of their way to support it, other than exclusive partnerships with nintendo such as the mario+rabbids game, which could set the precedent for more of these types of deals if it sells well.

I find it hard to worry when the Switch has, in its first 3 months, more games on it that I want to play than the Wii U did in its entire life-cycle.

Reasons like power aren't 3rd parties main concerns when thinking about Nintendo consoles.
I think the main question to those developers is "who's going to buy those games"?

Why should a gamer choose a Nintendo console instead of a MS or Sony console?
Those consoles are going to be filled with a certain type of games - and gamer's are even garanteed the best version of said games - that they like.

I think that if Switch keeps selling well, we might see some 3rd parties try a bit more.
Also, if games like Fifa, NBA and Skyrim don't put out respectable numbers, we might just end up with the classic line "X is mainly for Nintendo fans", again.

Hey OP, here is your answer.

The best open world game of the year: Breath of the Wild. Not available on PS4 and XB1.
The best fun-racer of the year: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Not available on PS4 and XB1.
The best third person shooter of the year: Splatoon 2. Not available on PS4 and XB1.
The best 3D platformer of the year: Super Mario Odyssey. Not available on PS4 and XB1.
The best JRPG of the year: Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Not available on PS4 and XB1.

There's simply no reason to lose sleep over inconsequential AAA games that won't be coming to Switch. Switch's third party support will be fine as it's going to absorb the 3DS's. For example, recently Atlus confirmed the Western release of Etrian Odyssey V and two other exclusive JRPGs that will be skipping PS and Xbox. Considering how the Switch sells in Japan (clean streak of being the #1 hardware in every week since its launch), Nintendo's latest console will be blessed with a lot of high quality JRPGs that won't be available on PlayStation (and not on Xbox anyway).

Are you serious ? Your comment is not good for a great discussion here. A typical comment from a Nintendo fan(boy), sry for the truth. You would make every minigame & smarthphone-game over all other games - if it is from Nintendo. Apart from this, it does not alter the fact with the new announcements of the E3. The "switch" is ignored. Your half comment does not contribute to the topic. Good exclusiv-games has every console, if you like Sony / Nintendo / Microsoft.

By the way: We can bet, end of the year: Persona 5 >>> XC2 (Story, Gameplay, Characters and Ratings/Sales Figures). Also Ni No Kuni 2 will have better ratings (and sales figures) than XC2.

Monster Hunter World, DragonBall Fighters Z, "Persona 5" or "Ni No Kuni 2" Star Wars Battlefront II

Those are the only games I like.

MH World: Didn't fully enjoy the MH Tri I played on Wii, but my two main gripes with it were the constant loading of zones. Really took me out of the game with such small areas and always loading new zone. Also many times I really with it were portable. Worlds would fix those two huge issues.

DBZ FighterZ: I prefer Tenkaichi style fighting for DBZ, but the 2d style is still fun, and watchign vids i can't deny this looks really fun and intense.

Persona 5 and Ni NO Kuni are games I enjoy.

Star Wars Battlefront II: Don't care about switch. This is a game I would play on my PC.

What exactly was wrong with his comment other than you thinking Xenoblade won't be the best reviewed RPG of the year?

I think a couple factors are in play here for the lackluster 3rd Party showing.

1. Western companies are never going to adopt the Switch as a third/fourth platform for their big AAA high budget games. It's just too much of a bottleneck, and the west chases power and graphics over anything else. If the Switch does get support, it will be from exclusives like Mario + Rabbids or smaller, less demanding games, like Lego. I think more of those will come as the platform becomes more successful.

2. The Wii U made companies wary about early support for the Switch. I think this is probably the primary reason for the sparse 3rd Party. Simply put, there wasn't enough confidence in the Switch's success early on to justify getting in on it early. But now that's proven itself, more developers will hopefully hop aboard. However, as of now, they'd have nothing to show as they probably wanted to see how things went before dedicating resources to the console.

My hope is that as the 3ds slowly stops being supported, and once Japanese devs realize that the Vita is no longer a profitable place for niche, lower budget games, those sorts of projects will move to the Switch.

I'd give it more time. I think we'll get even more sports games on Switch next year for sure.

I'm sure many publishers want to be on Switch, but haven't had time to figure out what to bring, when, and how. It's obviously a much more successful platform than anticipated.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Switch wont get many AAA 3rd party games, simply because of the hardware being too weak compaired to the others.

Its the same thing that happend with the Wii U.

However this time, nintendo has a unifed platform and will hopefully mean more games for the switch.

They just need to stop supporting 3DS and focus everything they have on the switch.

Maybe 10, 15 years ago this was the case.  While power is still an obstacle, it has way less to do with power and much more to do with profitability.  The attach rate for a Far Cry game on a Nintendo is just not worth the port.  If games are a sure hit, it's not nearly as hard to pull back on the graphics - look at Dragon Quest.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

I don't think that 2017 will have any baring on Switch's 3rd party AAA future.

But yeah, this was Nintendo's chance to prove themselves to 3rd parties, and they barely moved the needle. I'm not holding my breath.
