I think a couple factors are in play here for the lackluster 3rd Party showing.

1. Western companies are never going to adopt the Switch as a third/fourth platform for their big AAA high budget games. It's just too much of a bottleneck, and the west chases power and graphics over anything else. If the Switch does get support, it will be from exclusives like Mario + Rabbids or smaller, less demanding games, like Lego. I think more of those will come as the platform becomes more successful.

2. The Wii U made companies wary about early support for the Switch. I think this is probably the primary reason for the sparse 3rd Party. Simply put, there wasn't enough confidence in the Switch's success early on to justify getting in on it early. But now that's proven itself, more developers will hopefully hop aboard. However, as of now, they'd have nothing to show as they probably wanted to see how things went before dedicating resources to the console.

My hope is that as the 3ds slowly stops being supported, and once Japanese devs realize that the Vita is no longer a profitable place for niche, lower budget games, those sorts of projects will move to the Switch.
