Forums - Sony Discussion - The Last of Us: Did Joel make the right decision? (Spoilers)

Idk if he made the right choice to let her be dissected or not. The wrong choice he made was to not let HER decide.

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

He made the right choice. Humanity kept asking for too damn much of Joel.

4 ≈ One

Right or wrong is relative ...

What wasn't right is that the Fireflies didn't ask for Ellie's permission, withheld information about the experiments, Joel lied about about the events surrounding Ellie's unconsciousness and I don't mean that morally, I mean that technically ...

There was also no guarantee they would've found a cure either ...

Of course he didn't. I was so mad at the game when I finished it! I thought What?? I mean for real did he just do that??

Up to that point I loved almost every aspect of the game, but after that I have never picked it up again. His decision was subjective and extremely selfish.

He made the decision I would of made, but it was probably not the correct decision for the greater good

That's very debatable. The fireflies were basically a bunch of dickhead terrorists. Sure the cities seemed like they were under a military dictatorship kind of thing, but that doesn't excuse them blowing up stuff and doing terrorist attacks and no doubt killing a load of innocents. Do they really deserve a cure?

That argument sounds a lot like "the doctors are dicks, so we're not going to let them save humanity because it means they'll get saved."

Of course the decision was the wrong one, which is partially why the ending of TLoU never felt particularly compelling to me. It's an attempt to show just how far Joel has been pushed, to the point where he's willing to kill dozens of people and destroy humanity's last chance of a cure in order to avoid more personal loss. An ending which probably would have been more impactful if he hadn't demonstrated the willingness to murder everyone in his path without a second thought throughout the entirety of the game up to that point.

I would have done the same thing. In fact I did, since I was playing him.

No, He made the wrong choice and humanity (w/c will include other children like Ellie) will suffer because of it.

However, as a father, I understand the choice he made. It wasn't the right choice. But it was the only choice that he (being who he is) could have made.

Here is the alternate ending. Some may like it better

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

No imo.

No it wasnt the right decision. The right decisiin was probably letting Ellie choose what she wanted to do. But that qould lik roll y have meant her sacrificing herself for the greater good. So meh.
