handheld with a really short battery life

It's funny, the more I hear this, the less it makes sense. I vaguely recall continually charging my 3DS. So I decided to check online and compare battery lives:

The range of the 3DS XL is supposed to have 3.5-6.5 hours of battery life average.

The range of the N3DS is supposed to have 3.5-6 hours of battery life average.

The range of the 3DS XL is supposed to have 3.5-7 hours of battery life average.

The range of the Vita is supposed to have 3-5 hours of battery life average. (By Sony's account; Another source says it can last  3-7)

The battery life of the original DS can lasts to around 10 hours, and that system came out 13 years ago.

The problem I'm having difficulty grasping is in what way is the battery life of the Switch bad? It's comparable to most handhelds and better than some.
And the game that was cited to last 3 hours was Zelda, a console game which no handheld can play so it clearly doesn't represet the as a handheld in optimal conditions.

I'm still stupified by this. They're replacing an overpriced console with a different overpriced console, with a lot of the same games. I don't see how this will appeal to those who passed on the WiiU.

This I don't get either. Out of the games announced there are basically 5 games on the Wii U. 3 of which are on basically every platform. In what way is that most

You do know that they said it will only last 3 hours playing Zelda? The 3DS lasts more than 6 hours. I can tell you that much. Also, easier to recharge. You don't have to go back home every 3 hours. ^^

As for the games, try discounting the ones that are available on other systems and you will see the true proportion.

Yes I know, I wrote it. I had the 3DS, I know how long it lasts. And I continually went researching and checking with a friend's one over the last 2 days among other things, so I will take my word over yours. You also don't have to go home every 3 hours for the Switch. Where did you get this from?

I can only speak for myself of course, but I'm MUCH more excited for the Switch than I ever was for the Wii U, but I don't think I'm alone. I think many people place value in the portability and versatility of the machine. You will now be able play Skyrim on the go. This alone makes me want to rebuy the game. I'm also already noticing more interesting, and more varied content than Wii U had. Also, don't underestimate the value of cartridges.

I've learned in my 8 years of so at this site not not to make outlandish claims, so I'm not ready to jump the gun and declare Wii or even NES level sales, but I think this will be a great success for Nintendo and a major bounce back after the mediocre Wii u. Switch is what Wii U SHOULD have been.

Though at the end of the day, we simply don't know enough yet because we don't know enough about it's games. The quality and quantity of its games will ultimately make or break it. But so far, I really like what I'm seeing overall.

How you planning to recharge it?

USB type C charger

the only problem is price.
tradictional home console crowd is lost anyway. but 3ds+wii u + japan would still be there. at least if priced correctly.
for the hardware we saw, they could easily lower the price.

The 3DS has exactly the same range of battery life, 3-6 hours, depending on the game. I recharge my 3DS on the Go with an USB-powerbank and an USB-to-3DS-adapter. Looks like I can do the same with Switch.
