I'm feeling the Switch will struggle to sell 10 million units.

Forums - Gaming Discussion - I'm feeling the Switch will struggle to sell 10 million units.

And this is coming from someone who owns a Wii U and 3ds, I just don't know anybody (including me) that isn't that psyched for the Switch.

I know people are going to say "Well I am" and yes I'm sure plenty of people online are hyped for it, but nobody in my town even really knows what a Switch is and those that do don't care for it.

Let's talk about this next year...

Actual prediction of the year: Super Smash Bros Ultimate will sell in 12 million

Zelda and Pokemon and Mario!

Pocky Lover Boy!

I think it will be successful enough. Maybe not 80M+, but at least around 40-50M.

I think there is a real possibility for it to reach that within the first 18 months.

At this stage, I think it's too early to anticipate the sales. Once we know the actual price, and launch games that will be available, we'll have a clearer picture.

However, based on Nintendo's support for the Wii U and how that console performed in general... I'd be inclined to agree with your prediction.

Well,.... No.

Oh? So everyone you know is psyched? :P

It's not gonna be what people here hope it to become, but I think 25mln is a safe minimal number it will sell.

Why would people know about the Switch when they aren't even advertising it yet? All they showed was a 3 minute preview trailer and nothing more. Once they actually reveal it in January with their press conference, I think they will start rolling in the advertisements.

If people knew about the Switch already, that would not be a good thing because Nintendo still wants to sell the 3ds/WiiU this holiday season.

I think Jim Sterling's video shows how much Nintendo has learnt from the wiiU when moving to the Switch. Two trailers, both 3 minutes but one is a massive improvement.

After the Zelda surge, I think it's going to struggle until the 3DS is laid to rest (assuming no 3DS successor). After that, it will get stronger and do pretty good numbers. If it's competing with the 3DS, though, it's going to be hard to figure.
