Forums - Microsoft Discussion - ReCore may become a success despite mixed reviews

Next time they should just release it under Bethesda Games, and everyone will excuse the glitches. If it isn't obvious I do think certain reviewers let glitches slide way to easily for some games/companies, and are more critical for others.

If you are going to create a standards of reviewing for your website/organization enforce it everywhere.

Couldn't agree more.

I hate it when games get lower scores for x reason and others get a free pass. What you just mentioned is one of the many examples of inconsistency that is just unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.

So wait? They don't keep the game enough time in the oven and its the reviewers fault? I mean ReCore looks fairly good, but after seeing the reviews I'm holding out for the digital bargain bin. That's how I got The Order and had a blast with it, hopefully it will be the same with this one as well.

Read Mafioso's post.

I'm not a Xbox owner, but ReCore sounds like a 7.5-8/10 game from what I've read from people who actually played it. Solid gameplay, some bugs, okay visuals. Nothing that couldn't be said about any Bethesda or Ubisoft release.

Most game critics are about as trustworthy as a condom that was previously used as a pin cushion. And Metacritic factors in every little hole in the wall review site in existence.

That's interesting. So all games are actually better than their review score!

Or, at least, the games I like are better than their review score but the games I don't like are probably worse than their review score because of publishers purchasing good reviews.

Is this the correct mentality? Am I doing it right?

As far as sales go, I don't see this selling much better than Quantum Break. I'd say 500K lifetime in physical sales. 750K - 800K overall. The game didn't seem like a blockbuster at launch, and there really hasn't been any news on it since it settled with an average meta score.

I put it off at launch because of the review scores, but I do want to get it eventually if I can find it used for pretty cheap.

I doubt the game is selling well. mixed reviews, japanese, niche game, on xbox, does not translate to selling well. He is just saying whatever he wants behind the curtain of ambiguity.

They could just convince Nadella to authorize the purchase of ZeniMax and destroy everything... But yeah, this game was not a 64 MT game...

Well it could be argued that some games do recieve negative scores purely out of spite or for clicks.

Yep it sure can. It can be argued that reviews are paid for as well. All of this and more can be argued. At the end of the day I think the message here is don't take reviews seriously and decide on your own. I read reviews for bugs (which even those are left out sometimes) and I try to read user reviews cause they'll really let you know about bugs. As far as if the game is good or bad I just don't care what they have to say.
