Well it could be argued that some games do recieve negative scores purely out of spite or for clicks. 

Yep it sure can. It can be argued that reviews are paid for as well. All of this and more can be argued. At the end of the day I think the message here is don't take reviews seriously and decide on your own. I read reviews for bugs (which even those are left out sometimes) and I try to read user reviews cause they'll really let you know about bugs. As far as if the game is good or bad I just don't care what they have to say.
