Yeah, because the "OscarsSoWhite" were such a huge controversy outside the US...

It reached our media here on Brazil quite fast, so yeah, even if not that big.
But that was a minor deal as nothing racist actually happened.

But if they were to put a limit to how many black guys could play on the US basketball team (which is the same as having a white quota), boy, that would be big, really big.

That gorilla deal when people were thinking the kid that fell had white parents earned some pearls on twitter that where posted and discussed here as well, with people calling it "white parenting" to mock them and the situation and them the parents where discovered to be actually black...

Theres a difference between something reaching the news and people giving their opinion on Twitter to setting the world on fire. You know just as well as me that the racial tention in the US are way worse than everywhere else. Sure most people would be against it and condemn it, but in the US it would been seen as a black vs white issue, not a human rights issue.

I've heard some people refer to this behavior as "positive racism"... which is about as dumb as calling something "positive genocide"

Kinda surprised considering the US has had affirmative action for a long time now.

They already do this in the rugby team

Well I didn't know cricket was a thing in South Africa.

Just take away all the quotas and racial assistance programs and let the people fall into the positions where they are most productive I say.

Yeah, that's how you stop racism, by singling out one race and place it above others. Progress!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

This is stupid. 'Merit' should be the only deciding factor.

Absolutely disgusting really. There's absolutely no reason to try and force racist player quotas in to sports. Ok, maybe a country with a black majority would like to see more black people in the team, but why aren't they there? Is it because black people don't like the sport? IIRC the South African football team is mostly black, so it's certainly a possibility that they just don't like sports such as cricket and rugby and would rather play football instead. Or perhaps it's because there isn't the necessary infrastructure to properly develop good players in predominantly black areas? Well then why not invest more money in to those areas rather than trying to bring in artificial advantages/disadvantages based purely on someones skin colour?

Just imagine if a country with a white majority like the US introduced new rules mandating that teams have to have a white majority.

In european football there was talks about something like this (although it was based on nationality rather than race so wasn't anywhere near as discriminatory) but that was quickly shut down and deemed illegal.

That still exists on a national club level though.

Limited amount of non-EU players
guaranteed amount of players from your own country
guaranteed amount of youth players
guaranteed amount of local players (= players that used to play for the club's youth team)

Those were examples based on laws set by some domestic leagues.

In the US it is called "affirmative action"
