What's with these damn things? I'm so pissed off. Just yesterday another one of these bastards broke.

It was a gaming headset that is supposed to be good quality, a Qpad QH-90, for 110 Euros and I've only had it for four months and all of a sudden the right ear has no sound.

It's always the same thing. One side stops working but when I wiggle the cable it starts working again, for a little while... after a while I have to wiggle longer and longer until I get sound and after a few days of constant wiggling and trying to find the right spot it just doesn't work no matter how much I try.

My last headset before the Qpad was a Siberia Steelseries v3 for 80 Euros and it broke after a little over a year. Before that I bought cheap ones for 25-30 Euros and they lasted typically two years if I remember correctly. But I want better sound quality. So because my last headsets were so expensive I have tried to fix them myself.

I looked up guides on YouTube and found the spot where I think the problem is. Very often the spot where the highest chance of getting the sound back by wiggling is just before the cable enters the speaker cup, so I open it there. And the cable was a bit teared at that spot, but when I put the cables together I still didn't get any sound.

I don't get it, why doesn't it work even after I have fixed the goddam cable?

What should I do now? Are there any good quality gaming headsets where the cables don't break?

What's your experience with headsets?

I legit have a backpack full of headphones and gaming headsets that have failed me over the past two years (I'd guess about 12 pairs total, including earbud style pairs). In terms of headphones it was always because I would catch the cord on equipment when moving about, but I guess my gaming headsets have just sucked. I'm willing to bet it is because I constantly buy mid-range pairs.

Turtle Beach PLa failed me, PDP Afterglows failed me, now I'm onto some Turtle Beach Recons that plug straight into the controller ($50ish, so I bought mid-range again like the tard I am) and I am babying them. As for music I finally smartened up and bought some bluetooth Skullcandy so I don't trip on wires anymore. Just can't afford a wireless game headset that doesn't suck.

Logitech stuff always has great warranties from my experience. I physically damaged the mic with one of my headsets from them and they still gave me a new one. And on top of that, it was 2 way free shipping. Your mileage may vary tho but I always get accessories from Logitech.

I do have Sennheisers for music tho and they are pretty good.

I bought one of those PlayStation Gold Wireless Headsets maybe two years ago and it's been working pretty well. I know what you mean about the wires cutting off only one ear, so the good thing about the headset I have now is that it's wireless, but also lets you use an audio cable if you want. I'm usually just using the audio cable for pretty much everything--PS4, PC, phone calls, etc. And if the cable ever craps out, I can just buy another one instead of replacing the headset. My suggestion is maybe find one that has a removable audio cable. Maybe something wireless that does both wired and wireless and can be used across every device you've got.

Oh, and also I bought this headset at a Walmart which was (oddly) putting them on their clearance rack for $40 CAD. It was really weird, but I instantly bought them at such a stupid low price.

Get Sennheiser Hd 558/598 and mod a mic. I use Audio Technica M50's and use an external mic for voice chat during rare games.

Used the Sony Gold headset for Uncharted 4. It was okay. Good for convenience but quality was just okay.

Usually its the jack that breaks for me. Almost impossible to fix, and it can affect anything. Including my 150$ gaming headset...

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

So that's not a dedicateed gaming headset right? I have heard that's a good solution for best quality for your buck, and then just combine it with any external mic.

But you cited two models, 588 and 598. Is there a big difference between the two?

Oh yeah, catching the cord on furniture and stuff when you move. But that don't actually happen to me very often.

What about when you put the headphones down after you have taken them off? I wonder if that can damage them. I sometimes put them down a bit recklessly, drop them on my table from about 20 cm height.

But still t can't be that, because it's always the cables that break!

I've been using those and they broke but lucky Microsoft gave me a free replacement.

I wish I had kept the warranty papers and tried that. But I hate to mess with warranty, find the papers and put the stuff in its original package and having to argue with a storekeeper.
