So let's talk about the two new Wii U releases by Nintendo this month.

Let's use....30K as our benchmark.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is above that 30K benchmark, but not significantly (aka. it's not >100K or anything like that). So it's in the 30-80K range in its first month...that sort of area.

Tepid sales in the overall market, but can you really expect anything better from a niche JRPG releasing on a dead console at retail? At least it didn't COMPLETELY bomb retail-wise. Digital share should also be high for this kind of title.

But speaking of disasters.......

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games COULDN'T EVEN HIT that 30K benchmark. Not even 25K. Quite disastrous in all honesty.

Another bomb? Good ol' beloved Mighty No. 9. WEAK retail start. Couldn't even hit the ~40K territory.

Also, an interesting comparison this month:

Overwatch is at 423K, right?

Well Battleborn COMPLETELY COLLAPSED this month. Below 50K. Below 40K. Below 30K. Below 20K. Etc. It's horrible given how successful its direct competition is.

Do you think that NX release date announcement back in the end of April, severely affects wii u software sales like it does with hardware sales?

As for the MSROG 2016, no surprise, especially when taking into account  FW sales in JAPAN ( those games perfomance doesn't differ much between the west and Japan)! Those sales are within two days  and 1 week, right?

Anywise,  it's a game that relies on its legs not first week/ month sales, so I hope that you will give us an update for the month of July, to see ( how to say it?), its durability?

3DS version opened with 41k in the mid february  in Japan and now is close to 200k... Wii u version  opened with 18k in late june and as of last week has sold about 40k!

Would you like to give us an  update for the 3ds version LTD? Also, can you confirm or refute the <72k for 3ds  in May? It's very important ( particularly to figure out last months numbers ) and many people are  wondering about that, enlighten us, if you want.

I just left it alone.....even though Aqua clearly stated thatt UC was more of a global game than an US game Mazzy somehow still came to the conclusion that his prediction was correct. Oh well no big deal I know he is not a fan of UC4. I wonder how R&C is doing it was holding strong for a nice amount of time!

I'm talking about legs in terms of percentage MoM. It doesn't really make sense that UC4 would have weaker legs in US, and then have stronger legs in RotW.

Don't get me wrong I somewhat agree but with the growth of UC4 I would and the presence of Sony being number 1 WW I would say Europe might have better number than the US with UC4 now. So can't just go with US on this one.

Man, the top 10 will be meaningless now, when some titles include digital and some don't. Wish they would've provided charts for both physical and physical+digital.

Exactly, that's what sucks about it.

There's no point in having a Top 10 if some of your titles are physical and some of your titles are physical + digital. Rankings are completely nonsenical when comparing sales performances.

I'd actually prefer it if NPD would just stick to Top 10 physical only....at least that's better than garbage rankings.

Or better yet they do a physical only chart and a digital sales only chart. Win win.

Thanks, Aqua for sharing that NPD info.

You're complaining about me giving a large range for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE over on NeoGAF.

There's a reason I gave it a range of 30K-80K.

~55k?

Kill3r7 on NeoGAF: "You were right after all about Overwatch. Do we know if Overwatch was number 1 for the month of June?"

Someone who's on NeoGAF please copy and paste this post:

Yes, Overwatch was #1 for June, and Doom, and Uncharted 4 were right behind it on the rankings, as was GTA V.

Also, NPD said that Kirby: Planet Robobot was #4 on the physical charts.

Minecraft also did very well this month, buoyed by the release of Minecraft Wii U which did a lot better than I thought it would.
