Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gamers angry over Watch Dogs 2's Black Protaganist

Not reading, only time I have issues with changing something like this is when the person does it just to appease people. I don't think that's happening in WD2

Unfortunately, when the game sells below expectations, the SJWs will point to these few and say it was racism and label people who don't want to play it as racist. When in reality, it will be because the first one had a lot of hype around it, developers suckered sales and people were left disappointed

I've been saying this for a while, and I'll say it again. People who put all of this effort into fighting "political correctness" and "SJWs" are actually the bigger problem. You're not fighting for freedom of expression, you're being an asshole and you need to stop.

No, they don't need to stop. We need to start ignoring them.

Lord knows what will happen when Link is confirmed a female.

Yeah, i also wonder...

Shoehorning in a black character to create controversy (let's not be naive, okay?) is one thing... changing the ethnicity of an established character, whew... that would be something.

Not that I care, mind you, but i understand why others care.

I agree that it would be horrible if the game suffered in sales for a reason as superficial as race. I wonder if the developers will react to this. However, It seems people don't mind black protaganists in GTA, but it seems like they have a problem when it's a different title.

Like GTA San Andreas suffered in sales?

If the game is good, almost nobody will care about the race or gender of the protagonist.

I didn't even notice he was black when I watched the trailer. First trailer I saw posted somewhere I watched.  The only thing that caught my attention was it seemed geared to a younger audience and I got a vibe from it that reminded me of that movie hackers.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

What the hell happened to this world? You can't do shit without being called SJW or Misogynist or Racist or whatever. Seriously, some people really need to shut the fuck up.

This is just a story and the protagonist is supposed to be black. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM HERE?

I don't see those people attack book author because they don't like the stereotypical characterists of certain characters.. oh right.. they don't read books nowadays...

The only thing I care about is whether the game will be enjoyable too play. If the protagonist is well thought outm I don't care what race or gender the protagonist is.

Holy crop, what I said a couple comments above is already happening. I'm astonished!  (not really, saw it a mile away)

I don't agree with people who have a problem with it, but I also don't agree with the idea that a non-white character automatically makes them interesting as is so often suggested.

The racism in the complaints in the OP is so apparent. People need to grow up and gain some perspective
