Forums - Sony Discussion - Is the outrage towards PS4K proof that console gamers care more about performance and visuals than they're willing to admit?

All these years the power of the PS4 was totally fine and the games look AMAZING and the human eye can't see faster than 24fps.

Cut the straw man nonsense.

The fact that they want to release this stronger PS4 despite all the backlash and being number 1 in sales shows more than enough why Sony is best console manufactor.

Ideals > Money
They truly want to make PlayStation the best Place to Play

Feels that way to me. All these years the power of the PS4 was totally fine and the games look AMAZING and the human eye can't see faster than 24fps.

But when they're suddenly presented with a better choice they start to feel inferior. Why though? If the current performance of the PS4 is totally fine and in no way underpowered, why be scared of useless hardware improvements that won't improve the games in any way?

If the rumors are true and there will be no exclusive content for PS4K then I can only conclude two possible things about people who hate it.

1. Money envy. They're not able to afford all the newest things and hate if other people can buy better products.

2. Hidden regret. They suddenly realize that if Sony apparently deems the PS4 too weak, they feel as if they were wrong all along and the PS4 is actually underpowered despite their furious claims.

Anyway I don't like it. For once Sony does everything right and is about to reclaim my lost faith in them and there are people who try to hate on it for their own selfish reasons.

Knock it off, guys. Let Sony be great again! The claim that the release of a better console version will in any way hurt the juggernaught that is the PS4 is ridiculous.

It sounds like you have cherry picked responses.  What I read tends to be positive.  Your generalizations are unwelcome.  But regardless I really am satisfied with my PS4 and given the chance I may choose to upgrade if this is true.  It is as simple as having options. This does nothing but enhance what you can get from Playstation.  And all games are compatible so it's nice to have that if I ever feel I need it.

The base model still out preforms the competition at any rate.

Well... I don't care as long as Sony doesn't fuck it up, but I doubt that's gonna happen, so go for it!

Let it come out and see how it performs before you go declaring all these conspiracy theories.

Though i will say that performance doesn't depend on power. It depends on how they make the game. Theres ps1 games that run at 60 fps.

Well i have no problem with the consoles we have now, i think most games look great and most perform really well too but if they offer a more powerful console than i'm definitely gonna get it. But one side of me keeps thinking future games on the old PS4 will be given less effort than they would've if there was no PS4.5 and as a result they won't be up to the standard that we expect them to be. Another issue is that they can't have different framerates in multiplayer games as that would give PS4.5 owners an advantage but that's my only worries.

I would expect continued gains. Uncharted on the base PS4 is far far beyond anything this generation to begin with.  So PS4 owners are starting from an incredible vantage point. You may soon be able to get a freaking PS4 that can play uncharted level graphics at 299 and 249 come Christmas.

Yeah they care so much that they're asking for another $400 mid-generation.

I hate it because I feel a 5 year cycle is good for the industry and speeding it up is going to hurt it. These aren't smart phones. People can live without a fucking game console and if these companies think they can get away with a 3 year cycle, we're headed for a pretty steep decline.
