Forums - Sony Discussion - Is the outrage towards PS4K proof that console gamers care more about performance and visuals than they're willing to admit?

Feels that way to me. All these years the power of the PS4 was totally fine and the games look AMAZING and the human eye can't see faster than 24fps.

But when they're suddenly presented with a better choice they start to feel inferior. Why though? If the current performance of the PS4 is totally fine and in no way underpowered, why be scared of useless hardware improvements that won't improve the games in any way?

If the rumors are true and there will be no exclusive content for PS4K then I can only conclude two possible things about people who hate it.

1. Money envy. They're not able to afford all the newest things and hate if other people can buy better products.

2. Hidden regret. They suddenly realize that if Sony apparently deems the PS4 too weak, they feel as if they were wrong all along and the PS4 is actually underpowered despite their furious claims.

Anyway I don't like it. For once Sony does everything right and is about to reclaim my lost faith in them and there are people who try to hate on it for their own selfish reasons.

Knock it off, guys. Let Sony be great again! The claim that the release of a better console version will in any way hurt the juggernaught that is the PS4 is ridiculous.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Outrage? I think it's a good idea. As long as there ain't exclusive games for the PS4.5 then I see no issues.

Money envy?Hidden regret?LOL

I personally think they are right.Yes, there is difference betwenn a game that runs 30 fps and one that runs at 60 fps, even though I dont notice it always for some games.Soyou are wrong in that point.
And gamers have the right to be afraid from a potential userbase split. From the rumours, they say it wont split the userbase, but with the option of the games running better on the PS4K than on the base PS4, whos to say we dont have a chance of a Hyrule Warrior Legends case happening?

I personally think, if the rumours are true, that Sony decision of doing an improved PS4 is stupid, and that itwill come back to bite them in their ass.We will see though

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Um idk about your reasons but I think the PS4.5/k is a good idea, it doesn't fracture the console base while offering a better version people can buy if they reall want more consistent 60fps/1080p etc...

Well i have no problem with the consoles we have now, i think most games look great and most perform really well too but if they offer a more powerful console than i'm definitely gonna get it. But one side of me keeps thinking future games on the old PS4 will be given less effort than they would've if there was no PS4.5 and as a result they won't be up to the standard that we expect them to be. Another issue is that they can't have different framerates in multiplayer games as that would give PS4.5 owners an advantage but that's my only worries.

PS4.5 or whatever you want to call the rumor is illogical. The PS4 is the market leader and the most powerful console this gen. There's no advantages to releasing new hardware when there's a lot more positives to not doing any hardware upgrades except for a slim. Next gen, we might see 4K consoles but I doubt it even then. Alot of people haven't even switched over to 1080p.

I think the PS4K is a good idea too. I mean... The amount of articles and videos about tiny differences in games this gen and last are ridiculous. Surely those same people who want to have the best console experience will also be for it?

I think it's more people are afraid to put their money where their mouth is. If an updated xbox was released and in similar fashion to the PS4K (4k media, no fractured gaming community) , I'd strongly consider buying it.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Though i still have my doubts that it will be a 4K gaming unit.

Has there been an outrage? I haven't seen any.

The outrage implies that console gamers value simplicity. They want a plug and play box that will give them a good experience for half a decade or more without worrying about this or that option giving you a better or worse experience. Mid gen refreshes interrupt that.

Looking at the pros and cons of both sides I'm still on the fence myself.
