Also, can you link to proof that the general consensus is Gears Ultimate would "fare better" than the original, which got a 94? Because I am going to call BS on your entire post, but specifically that part.

And lastly, this thread, which is dedicated solely to predicting metascores, has Gears Ultimate averaging an 84? An 84 is also not higher than a 94.

That Giant Bomb review seems a bit too harsh. I can understand him feeling like it hasn't aged especially well (I expressed a similar opinion in this thread, though he seems to think it's aged a lot worse than I do), but it feels like he's more focused on his perception of the gap in quality between them (relative to their release date) than the quality of the present day product itself. That's fine on a personal level, but both perspectives should be considered in a review like this. At least in my opinion :p

Hmm, down from 85 to 82 is surprising. I hope the score rises.

It surprising how they have completely ignored multiplayer which is basically the many reason for this remaster imo and the multplayer side of the game has improved vastly and seems to of not age'd at all.

Does the game have some issues? I'm sure it does, like what some of the reviewers mentioned.
Is the game absolutely unplayable, and complete trash? Hell no. Just judging from the beta I can tell you it's not. When I think 4/10, I think of a game so bad that nobody should even play it. Does Gears ultimate deserve this score? No.
It annoys me when I see review score of games that are at least, "good" get 4's or lower. I don't have an issue with Gamespot's score because at least it's still a "good" rating.

Maybe CliffyB slept with Jeff's girlfriend sometime recently.

I laughed at his whining about the multiplayer. Please, Jeffrey, tell us more about how players who are good at a particular MP game, play a lot of that MP game.

With the announcement of Gears of War 3 and Life is Strange as part of Games with Gold, Xbox One tweets have managed to surpass PS4 tweets today. I am starting to think this game will do well.
