That's why you didn't see a panic price cut by Microsoft. Sony would counter that anyway. Just like they did with 3D Blu-Ray support. They are playing with Microsoft right now. They are trolling them since E3 2013. Seriously.

I meant it this way, the CELL was and is a very complex chip to build and was a huge price factor in PS3, besides bluray.
And we weren't talking about success but about Sony so fast reducing the price of PS3 which was also because of IBM being able to produce the CELL cheaper.
I think that MS was also able to reduce the costs as both use a lot of same hardware (especially the ones that cost money).

Kinda doubt that.
Given their sales struggles, if they could cut and not drop in the red they would have. 349 for xbox and 449 for kinex one would have been proper if they were able to.

On getting destroyed sales wise 4-1 in europe and 2-1 in its home marlet for half of 2014.
Corporate decisions are not motivated by complex ideas, nor are they hard to infer if you work in one of them hell holes.
Logic, greed for money motivates actions follow see outcomes.
$50 million increase in profit attributed to cost down, it means a handful of bucks per console. It's good but I don't think it means a meaningful price cut could be done 
.
