Why really? Do you just prefer the range of comedy better? I feel like S2 had worse overall animation, and a higher (and unnecessary) focus on fanservice, and worst of all (in my opinion) totally iced the plotline of the first season in favor a sitcom style situation-per-episodes. That said, when they actually went dungeon crawling was one of the best parts of the entire series. It just sucked that the season ended without anything moving forward.

I don't recall Season 1 looking that nice to begin with, nor was it immune to fanservice...but eh, if that's a big deal for you I guess that's fair.

Personally I like the focus on comedy more than the overarching plot.  The first episode was basically the Seinfeld finale, and it was fantastic. The anime works best when it's being parody of the Isekai genre, so when it puts too much focus on actual plot it feels like it's becoming the very thing it's trying to mock. It reminds of how the One Punch Man manga has been until just recently.

Wasn't the slime guy connected the Demon King? I thought I recall it ending with another one of the big bad's main minions losing just like season 1. Pretty sure that mask dude was connected to him somehow, but I'm too lazy to check.

Not for no reason. The only humans his allies or him have killed in that manner were bandits, bad people and the rest were loosely cases of self-defense. Him and his helpers are non-humans so people react badly to him. He's like an antihero or a ruler who's expanding his influence. He saved plenty of people so far.

With the lizard people, he's forcing them into unifying to make it easier to join him later.

He's murdering them, sometimes horribly.  It looked like some were burned alive.  I don't see where that's unicorns and rainbows just because he's doing it for the sake of manipulating them.

Reminds me a bit of the propaganda manga GATE, where the Good Guys could do anything they wanted because they were the Good Guys.

Its war. He wants to unify the non-humans and that won't happen without some bloodshed. He basically unified their tribes and likely prevented future tribal  fighting by presenting a false threat to their existence. Sure, some warrior lizards died in that battle but I doubt that they would make a big deal out of it considering that they don't put alot of value on the lives of their people (they did talk about going to war with other tribes so they aren't stronger than them in numbers) and what they'll likely gain from him.

We also don't know how any of the tribes treat outsiders or how they would have reacted to a proposal right off the bat. We also don't know why he chose this approach over others. Perhaps, he saw a threat to them and did this so they would ready for it as one people with a very powerful ally.

If he was evil, he would have just sent in high level undead with a op general to slaughter them then just raise them as undead lizard people.

If another side did that in the anime, they'd be considered the bad guys.

It doesn't really even make a lot of sense.  The Lizard people only united by chance, because there was a single guy who was both smart and strong enough (and had a magical weapon) to push it through.  What if that guy hadn't been there or hadn't been allowed to speak?  Would they have attacked and started wiping out the villages one by one?

Even then, it was almost a disaster.  The leaders were almost killed (probably should have been), which probably would have doomed the Lizard tribes.  That sure as hell doesn't seem like a very "good guy" outcome.

Seems like a massive amount of plot armor and same kind of "native lives don't really matter" attitude the GATE manga had.  I'm having trouble caring about the protagonist.

He's not supposed to be a classic hero or the good guy. He's a human stuck in the body of his elder lich character from his fav mmo rpg in an alternate reality. The world is also controlling his emotions so they are closer to how his character would be. He acts more like a warlord or king would act.

I don't consider him a bad guy. He saved the village that was being attacked by that nation and the friendly nation's hero. He also saved that city from that cult or secret group. He also commands his followers to treat humans nicely unless they are attacked or against what he wants.

Not the biggest fan of Isekai, I enjoyed the first season of Konosuba enough, good comedy for the most part. No Game No Life, I don't know if I would watch it again but it had some clever moments and good pacing. The other one that I have watched is Re:Zero sort of, gave up after Ep. 17 or 18 don't remember, I was already  getting pretty bored of it, didn't have the energy to finish it, the characters were pretty boring couldn't get emotionally invested in any of them, Subaru was getting tedious af, didn't help that I was watching Diamond Is Unbreakable at the time, whoose main villain puts to shame any of Re:Zero.

I'll give my vote to Konosuba, kept me entertained the whole ride, had some fun characters and a nice feel about it.

Inuyasha is in my top 3 but it is light isekai. Digimon adventure is probably next.

For short shows, No Game No Life was pretty good.

In no particular order my top 10 isekai are...

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash

Drifters

Sword Art Online

GATE

Overlord

Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Konosube

Re: Zero

In Another World With My Smartphone

Log Horizon

I chose Overlord in the poll because it's very different and it has a lot of potential.

SAO, KonoSuba, NGNL and Re Zero are basically on the same level for me. If Re Zero hadn't completely fucked up its second half that would be the winner.

Honorable mention goes to Grimgar.

So guys, after watching A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Halloween, I was wondering if there were any horror anime in that vein? Specifically something like Texas or Halloween where rather than a supernatural enemy it is instead an earthly enemy. I guess a "slasher anime" really.
