Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why does Tropical Freeze sell so bad?

I mean, this game is completely amazing, and it is also only 50$

Seriously, it doesn't even make the charts at ALL and when it does it is at the very bottom

Either it sold much better digitally or people don't buy any Nintendo games without "Smash" or "Mario" in the title

Around the Network

little to no marketing

People want it on 3DS.

It sells bad, because the console already has enough platformers, and what people wanted was a new Metroid, not another Donkey Kong, if the game would had released later on, maybe after a new Metroid and the library of the console diversified, things would had gone better, but it was released at a bad moment, when the majority of the library of the games on the console were platformers, and when the most people wanted was a new Metroid.

COMG guide to points: 1 point = Raging. 2 points = Beasting. 3 points = Tearing it up. 4 points = Berzerk. 7 points = Rampage. 12 points = Burst. 15 points = god mode. 20+ points = DIVIDING BY ZERO!!! 40+ points = Youkai (originally Pokemon).

-1 = Negabeasting. -5= NegaRampage. -10 = NegaBurst

Didn't that release in January or February? It is way too expensive.

Everything you said is right. I didn't care for this game personally, maybe someday I'll play it...after I've finished Metroid Prime 4 that is.

Platformer oversaturation, small install base, disappointment that it wasn't Metroid.

DK did very well on Wii. Maybe people felt it was too soon for another one? Especially considering that Wii U already had many platformers (too many on the eshop).
I haven't bought it mostly because I already have Rayman Legends, Shovel Knight, and SM3DW. I'm sure it's a great game and it's a shame it didn't sell well, but I may buy it once it gets a price cut.

50$ Mario Kart 8 was 60 but that sold much better

Because it is a game almost nobody was asking for or wanted... On hardware that is stuck in a rut...
