Some differences in gameplay between Ruby/Sapphire and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire:
- Attacks are no longer defined by being physical/special based on their typing, but on an individual basis. This has greatly altered the way we battle.
- There were 319 Moves in R/S. This number has grown significantly since then, adding more strategies and diversifiying Pokemon.
- There were 386 Pokemon in R/S. There are now 719 Pokemon available to capture and train. This has led to greater diversity and strategies in battle.
- There were 76 Abilities in R/S. There are now 189 Abilities available. This has led to greater diversity and strategies in battle.
- Plethora of new Items for Pokemon to hold, which (once again) has led to greater diversity and strategies in battle.
- Mega Evolutions have been added, adding even more customization and strategic diversity in how a player battles with his Pokemon.
- TMs are now available to be used repeatedly, allowing for greater moveset diversity among Pokemon.
- Rotation Battles, Triple Battles, Inverse Battles, and Sky Battles have been added, giving players more ways to play against one another as well in the game.
- Fairy type has been added, greatly altering the battling scene.
- Other typings have been altered in what they're resistant to.
- Typings have also been altered to have resistances to statuses. Fire Pokemon cannot be burned, Electric Pokemon cannot be paralyzed. Spore attacks do not effect Grass types. Etc.
- 74 Pokemon have been given updated stats, affecting the way they are used in battles.
- Super Training has simplified and shed a light on how trainers can EV train their Pokemon.
- Status effects have been altered to change how useful they are in effect.
- 3D Graphics with 3D movement.
And that's just some of the things off the top off my head. So to say that R/S and OR/AS are "exactly the same game" is (as Spemanig has already said) objectionally false. If that's the subjective statement based off of your own rules and goalposts that you want to make for yourself, then go ahead. But to pretend that that statement actually has any bearing in the actual reality of the situation is ignorant at best. OR/AS will offer a unique spin on the original R/S game due to these mutiple changes introduced since 2003, and many gamers will enjoy the game based on that.
Anyways, the discussion has been derailed due to this rabbit hole, so let's move past this and actually talk about the information based on the OP. NO MORE TALK ABOUT WHETHER OR/AS IS THE "SAME GAME" AS PREVIOUS POKEMON GAMES. DOING SO WILL RESULT IN A MODERATION FOR SPAM. If you want to talk more about it, feel free to make a different thread on the topic. Thanks.
