Do you play modern Pokemon games or are you just one of those people who stopped after Gold/Silver because it all "turned to crap" after that?

I have played up to B/W. I have played FR/LG and HG/SS but only because I could play them for free by borrowing the carts.

No, I don't think the modern games are worse or weaker. They're just exactly the same beyond a single coat of paint.

Stop playing games then, cuz if pokemon is like tht, 90% of sequels are worse (in terms of innovation)

New info!!!

A new feature introduced in Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire is Prehistoric/Primal/Primeval Pokémon. These Pokémon seem to work in a similar manner to Mega Evolution through a process called Ancient Devolution, and sends the Pokémon back to their prehistoric state. Full details on this feature are not known

This sounds pretty crazy this seems like an alternate for pokemon that wont get a mega evo but instead they will  get a prehistoric evo! Sounds pretty cool.

Guys, I really mean it. I don't want to ban folks this close to E3.

Drop the "same game" discussion in this thread. It's not on topic and it's derailing the conversation. If you really feel the need to talk about it, then make a thread on it and talk about it there.

Last warning. Stick to the information based on the OP.

JKJK :P But seriously, consoles are getting so many ports this year (especially ps4), but nintendo does a remake with so many extra feats and updated style (not to mention 11 year difference) its bad :0 Anywayz i hope nobody gets banned, E3 is here!

Disagree on that last point. The only Pokemon that can really be considered Overpowered Megas are MegaGengar and MegaKangaskhan. Other than that, Megas are a viable part of the competitive community that have altered it in very interesting and fun ways. And the reason why they're not completely overpowered is that they cannot hold an item along with their Mega-Stone. Non Megas can still hold very important items like Life Orbs, Focus Sashes, Choice Items, Leftovers, while Megas cannot. So this tradeoff is very important and still gives non-Megas roles to play.

Ask TBone how much my non-MegaMandibuzz cared about his MegaCharizard X.

Megas also give previously forgotten Pokemon another chance to shine in the competitive enviornment. So it's neat to see guys like Houndoom, Aggron, and Kangaskhan back in the spotlight.

That's my main gripe with Megas. Several of the Pokemon that have Megas already have their third stage and are already quite powerful and can hold their own, and others don't even have a second stage evolution. If they wanted to get these Pokemon back into the competitive environment then they could've just introduced a new evolution, not use some gimmicky mechanic that only works during battle.

The trade-off for having a Mega in your party was, arguably, made because GameFreak knew these Pokemon would be OP/quite powerful compared to normal Pokemon. The trade-off wouldn't be necessary if they just gave normal Pokemon normal evolutions.

I can agree with that. I'm definitely hoping that previously forgotten competitive Pokemon can get a new lease on life due to Megas (personally hoping for a MegaWeavile, even though she's already pretty awesome. She's my favorite. :P). Megas gave GameFreak a sort of re-do button on previous Pokemon, and I'm okay with that.

Random: Garbodor needs a Garbage Truck evolution that's Poison/Steel. It only makes sense.

Speculation on Mega's in competitive?

Mega Swampert can bring rain teams heavily back into OU. Swampert already has HP=100 and def+sp def of 90 each with 110 atk. Boosting his speed by just 10 will make it have 70 speed and swift swim O.o

Mega Sceptile switching in on elect will be great with a sp atk boost!

Also, no one's said anything about how this now confirms that it was a hat all along.

Moar fanart!

Can't wait for Alpha Sapphire!
