I'd definitely miss them alot more than I missed SEGA and Atari after they exited the hardware business. Nostalgia aside, neither one of those companies really brought much to the table in the twilight of their years. Sure everyone today has fond memories of the DC, lavishing it with praise and saying how it was the most underrated console of all time, but truth be told it just couldn't stand up to the PS2/GC/Xbox in terms of both hardware and software.
Like them or not, M$ brought alot of innovations into the industry, not the least of which was a fully realized online service that took game consoles out of the dark ages of dial-up modems and interfaces that made WebTV look like futuristic technology. And over the last generation or so, they've been the ones to really push Sony and force them to rethink their strategy in the industry, not Nintendo.
