Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii's Forgotten Killer App

I don't think Nintendo should advertise its VC. It's definitely a nice feature, but it should never be confused with what Wii is for... to play Wii games.

It's like fanboys claim that PS3 can be used as a blu-ray player. Yes, it can (and I use it a lot), but it's first and most, a game console for PS3 games.

side-features are great, but not worth advertising much for.

Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

@Kingofwale: VC games are games, too.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Soon when I get enough money I'm gonna go VC crazy. Right I only have two but by middle of the year I should have at least about 10-12 VC games.

If VC was had online co-op/versus, I'd consider it a killer app.

What they need to do is get more rare/import games on there (Dracula X DAMMIT, better NeoGeo goodies).

Alien Solider, Sin & P, Lost Levels are good starts, but we need more. I don't think most Wii owners probably are into VC, outside of buying a Mario/Zelda or two.

^i think they will bring more imports

vc is good, but it has no appeal to me cause the games are overpriced and wii's memory is too small/ but its good its drawing people in, its amazing how 10 people can all want a wii but for 10 different reasons. nintendo did it right with this one.

Yeah Nintendo needs to advertise this more. There are plenty of gamers who would really like to play the classics. I bet when Wii is sub-$200 more of these VC only type of gamers will buy in.

Very true, once the price is lower and the library of VC games has grown the market will expand greatly for them.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

What they need to do is boost up old classics with some better Wiimote support. I'd love to play OoT with the option to use Twilight Princess controls for swinging teh sword and aiming the bow and hookshot and the like, to actually have RUMBLE, and to have the Wiimote actually make the sounds when you play the ocarina, map teh controls for Mario 64 up roughly the same as what Galaxy has and maybe even use the DS version where you have the extra stars and characters.

for that matter, what about SNES games, why do they only use the classic and gamecube controller? Zelda: Link to the Past could have been mapped to a Wiimote alone. (the button to view the map could have been set to the A button with the other 3 being set to 1, 2 and the B trigger. The shoulder buttons were never even used) there are a number of N 64 games that could have been adapted to use Wiimote+ nunchuck as well

I love having access to the old games, but it still frustrates me to no end to be able to see what could have been done with them and what should have been done but wasn't. Not only does it feel half assed and cheap, it makes it less inclusive, as you need either a classic or gamecube controller to play many of the best titles out there(I'm sure a number of people have only maybe grabbed and extra wiimote and nunchuk and nothing else.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

@ grey acumen, it would take time to adapt all those although it sounds like a good idea, and it would probably be quite easy to map the controls, it would just be about getting sensitivity right, although with Zelda, they could nick the controls from the current one
