Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What really bugs you about the One?

Not to beat a dead horse, but I hear the used game policy really ins't that bad. When you sell a game to a retailer, they will have the ability to clear the Gamertag attachment, so when you buy a used game in the store, you don't have to pay an extra fee to play it. So this really won't change the market that much.

However the One is controversial for more then just the used game fee, so what about the One is holding you off from buying one? Please NO FLAMING! If you want to make fun of the One, get out of here now, I really want to know, in all honesty, what's the biggest factor which is hurting the One now.

For me, it's the games. Nothing really stand out from the leaked list of games. Rare has yet to make a high quality game on a Microsoft platform, Kinect Sports doesn't count, so I can't look forward to a new Killer Instinct of Banjo Game. Forza and Halo, just come way too often, I'm no where near done Forza 4, and there's already a Forza 5? How many new cars have released in 2 years? Plus I'm just tired of Halo and Gears now, the plot ended at 3 for me, now Halo feels like an epilogue, and I can't imagine Gears being as intense as it used to be.

Then there is Quantum Break and Titanfall, two One "exclusives" which will either likely release on PC, or are already confirmed on PC.

Plus, there is Microsoft's history. I bought a 360 in 2007 thinking, wow look at all the games coming out. In 2010, those games stopped flowing. Even if MS blew me away with their list of exclusives, I can't trust that MS will keep the flow coming.

Also reliability is a big factor, my 360 broke 3 times, and a 4th time is coming soon, I want a system that can last an entire gen, no worries.

How anti-consumer it is, putting up all these barriers and restrictions to gamers.

The fans extending what MS is doing to Sony... it makes 0 sense to do and to get to point A to point B you need to make a few logical fallacies.

As for the HW itself, online check is only and issue if I'm at my moms... but I come here when I'm not in school so a good part of the year. That doesn't bug me that much though I do see how its a problem and I don't agree with it.

My biggest issue is selling it to participating retailers and loaning a game once. I try selling my games to my friends for cheaper than they would by used but more than gamestop would give me before selling it there.

right now there isnt even a confirmed functioning game rental service on the system that in itself speaks on how difficult and confusing theyre making the system/ I cant even rent a game .I dont really see how anyone can defend or justify that

So far, the loaning games issue but it's been said you can lend games to people only once. Surely that would be enough though, right? MS haven't been clear with many things either and that too has been annoying. Games are being shown at E3 so while no it is an issue somewhat, it'll be fine by post E3, more than fine!

How US centric the console is. After all what good is half those features if they won't be available to me at launch (or likely for years afterwards).

The anti-consumer moves are also a little concerning -- how long will the XBONE play videogames ? 10 years? After all once those servers are shut down / Microsoft stops supporting the XBONE it will not play your games any more and in a world without backwards compatibility that is kinda scary.

For me personally 2 things.

Kinect: I just don't want to have to buy one, I dislike it, I've never liked it, my room is too small to use it and if there is one thing worse that being forced to buy it, it's being forced to have it connected to the console and perhaps used for certain features. It's not just an unwanted piece of hardware I have to pay for, I have to take care of the damn thing because if it breaks my X1 would be a brick. My console would be completely dependent on the health of an unwanted accessory.

Used games: It's completely dependent on the publisher whether or not your boxed copy of the game has a $0 resell value after you buy it. They are under no obligation to allow you to sell the game on.

For the record though I think my used game gripe will either be the same or reasonably similar for the PS4.

The only thing I'm bothered by is that I have to wait 2 more days to see some of their games. I don't have a problem with the system and how they describe it to work.

Your used game gripe will most likely be nothing similar on the Ps4 considering it doesn't need an internet connection and it can play used games which has been confirmed by multiple people at sony.

As for the kinect: My cats chew through EVRYTHING! and I would be pissed if I had to rebuy a kinect if that were to happen. If I originally bought it and they chewed through it but the system still worked I wouldn't care. If I liked it I would probably eventually by another one but when I have the time, interest, or money to without worrying about not being able to play games (360) but with the x1 if they did it I would need to buy another one immediatly before I can play games.
