I didn't notice any re-drawn art. Are you sure? The only thing I saw was that it seemed converted into a higher resolution.

You're probably right. I assumed that since it's 2D, you would need to redraw the sprites to avoid to looking like garbage.

But looking back at the footage, it looks like it the scale of the world has been increased.

I do notice a big difference though. It should run a lot better on modern PCs now.

I've been playing (a lot of) this on Gameranger recently, and been thinking how great it would be to have a HD version (with better servers etc).

That is the question since ES is no longer with them. AoE III is the most played game in my life and still play. But can't stand the 2d movement of AoE 2 now. Hope they make the movements better with 3d graphics.

Yea, especially now that it seems I will not be getting the new Sim City.

I do agree they could have improved the graphics.
