Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U Network IDs can be transfered to a new console by Nintendo

I'm sorry I derailed the thread. I'm sticking to the Official Nintendo News Thread from now on.

If under warranty and break in a way covered by it, those that aren't and those expired I doubt it.

As someone who's has had to deal with Nintendo a few times over this issue, I can tell you that you don't have to pay.

I only paid once, and that was when I spilled water on my 3DS.  My negligence, so I paid.

....

I think the whole issue here is "You don't have to pay" when it's a system defect, and isn't your fault.  I am quite sure almost no warranty covers damage through yourself damaging it from lack of care.

That's not a contradiction, it's a distinction.  You're just so consumed with being negative that you can't even see it.  The OP is saying if your console bricks or is stolen, breaking you're own console due to negligence isn't covered by any company anywhere.

This is just a half solution, Nintendo... -_-'

Bloody hell, it's been so long ago that I totally forgot about the news that this could potentially be a cloud base account. I can see this is step by step solution until it can be fully realized. I just hope it gets don really soon!

wait if my launch wii dies now which is like what 6.5years now and I send it to nintendo I dont have to pay ?
I doubt it ... I think its 90euro/dollar for the wii if it breaks and you send it in.
Still cheaper than a new one, but if you can get one from ebay/2nd hand its way cheaper then going for a repair.

and didnt they say the wiiu repair costs are like $185 ? dont you have to pay that after the 1 year warrenty is over ?

Nope.  If it dies, just call Nintendo, they'll ask you to send it in and they'll check it out to see what's wrong with it.  If it died due to system failure (something internal breaking, disc drive not reading discs, etc.), they'll just replace it for you.

I'm about to send in my Wii again because it has trouble reading dual-layered discs (Brawl, Xeno, Prime Trilogy).  No charge.

I was going to send in my Wii U when I thought it was defective.  Again.  No charge.

Please notice the distinction between system failure and owner negligence.

I sent in a 3 year old GC and they replaced it no charge. I asked them first for a warranty extension and they accepted it. All you have to do is ask.

That was my one and only time ever needing to have my Nintendo hardware replaced.

wow thats great service ... never had too deal with them since they wont break in the first place for me :)

had to replace a few ps360 though and had too pay for them if they were out of warrenty ... but since you can sell the controller/hdd/stuff it comes with the repair costs were not that bad. (but still bought a new one for each)

Yeah, just call them up and explain the situation.  They're really good at handling this type of stuff.  In fact, check out this post from last week about my experience with my "defective" Wii U.  Ninty did a great job accomodating me.

That is a huge error and I'm pretty sure they will fix it in a firmware upgrade. People wan't to simply buy a new console if it stop working after warranty without using consumer service.
