Wii U Network IDs can be transfered to a new console by Nintendo

I sent in a 3 year old GC and they replaced it no charge. I asked them first for a warranty extension and they accepted it. All you have to do is ask.

That was my one and only time ever needing to have my Nintendo hardware replaced.
